Current mood: accomplished

It is taxing being as in demand socially as I am but I somehow manage time and again to balance my schedule with my usual grace and aplomb. The past two weeks have been simply abounding with appointments here and there. I've been Apparating, Flooing, and Portkeying so much that I fear I shall have to travel to my Cretian retreat with Gunther for a month to recuperate.

Nesta Nott and I have taken to shopping with one another as of late. I must say, her taste is absolutely exquisite. We spent hours at Le Poison de Rue and she purchased some lovely one-of-a-kind robes, all in puce. It is such a shame that my Draco does not find puce to be aesthetically pleasing as puce is the new blush...and he would look quite stunning in puce. This should come as no surprise as he favours his mother in appearance and I, naturally, look fabulous in puce. However, I shall have to find a new puce because I daresn't be caught in the same colour frocks as Nesta Nott or anyone else for that matter.

Teas have been spent the past few days with Avianca Travers. Although she is somewhat bovine in appearance (and rather resembles her husband, if you want my opinion), she is a charming woman and voices opinions on matters which I find myself agreeing. It is ever so refreshing to spend time with people who share the same ideals on views as myself.

This afternoon I must attend the funeral of Vortimax Rosier, husband of Eponina Rosier, an associate of Lucius's. We had just dined with the Rosiers only days before and poor Vortimax seemed all in good health. I admit that I found him to be less than fascinating as we did not see eye to eye on many subjects. However, I cannot help but to feel badly for Eponina. The darling is beside herself with grief.

After the funeral I must make arrangements to travel to London this week as I intend to give Remus a visit and pick up a few necessities for both myself and Draco.

Isn't Avianca Travers the woman I turned into an ant?

I prefer burgundy to puce, Mother. As you can see, it would be quite odd if I wore the same colour robes as Mrs Nott in any case, so I suppose it's a moot point.

I hope you enjoy the funeral.

Your son,
Draco

Why yes, darling, she is. Every now and again she does something particularly buggy and I am reminded of your cleverness with your wand.

It would indeed be odd as it would be if I were to do the same. Fortunately, we are far too fashionable to make such a mistake.

As much as one can enjoy a funerary event.

Love,
Mother

Still, I don't suppose I'd like it very much if Nott began calling me 'Mother' by mistake.

Ought I to send my regards to Mrs Rosier? I can't recall if I've ever met her, though I do think I'd remember someone with a husband called Vortimax.

No, I don't suppose you would. I don't know how he could mistake you, though, as you do not have gapped teeth and crow's feet.

It would be the polite thing to do, dear. She was your tutor for perhaps two weeks many years ago. She accidentally got a spot of ink on your robe cuff and your father promptly let go of her.

If that's the case, I shan't be overly verbose in my thoughtful gesture. After all, just because she's a widow, that's not an excuse for abuse. I do remember now, though I'd clearly blocked the memory out due to the trauma of it, as I think she did it on purpose, actually.

It was rather traumatizing, wasn't it, darling? Cashmere is quite difficult to charm clean.

Well, I dare say she paid for it in the end.

Well said, my Little Dragon.

I assume this was a relation of the late Evan Rosier.

blondenarcissa @ 2004-01-25 07:56 pm UTC

Vortimax was his brother, yes. That is common knowledge.

That's really strange, Mrs Malfoy.

Did Draco tell you? That I said thank you, I mean? For the Christmas presents? I didn't really have the chance to write out thank you cards or anything like that because we were at St Mungo's so much so I told him to tell you but I don't know if he remembered or not.

blondenarcissa @ 2004-01-27 02:43 pm UTC

It is, isn't it?

No, Harry, I am afraid that he didn't tell me. I am quite sure that he had every intention of doing so but it simply must have slipped his mind. You're quite welcome and that is perfectly all right about the card. I am more than aware of how busy you were with other things during your holiday.

How are you faring this term?
