A perfectly lovely weekend
Ah, what a relaxing and completely fabulous weekend this has been at the Manor. Why wouldn't it be, after all, when I am a Malfoy and the Mistress of Malfoy Manor, not to mention incredibly attractive and charming? In addition to all of those enviable aspects of the seeming enigma that is me, my darling husband presented me with the most exquisite diamond necklace that I have ever seen in my life on Valentine's Day. Lucius, the wonderful man that he is, had the gems especially mined and cut just for me in South Africa. They are truly exquisite; I do wish that you could all see the glory of them in person. Alas, the good majority of you being voyeuristic enough to read my journal do not have well enough breeding to come within fifty metres of me. You filthy mudbloods and Muggle lovers ought to do well enough to realize that you are tainting my aura and go entertain yourself in a manner more befitting of someone in your station. Perhaps weeding gutters or scrubbing loos is something you should look into.

Have I mentioned how well my new necklace goes with the tiara my charming son gifted me for Christmas? I am wearing the tiara in the photo I have included. Isn't it simply gorgeous? I shall have to do another sitting for a professional photographer wearing the tiara with the beautiful necklace my Lucius gave me. It is too stunning not to show off. Appropriate, is it not?

After Lucius and I spent a few quiet and indulgent hours together on Friday evening and our love tokens were exchanged, he departed for a meeting with a few old friends in Romania. So dedicated to business, my husband is. He assured me that he will have a few items and new duties to discuss with me upon his return. I am agog with anticipation.

On Saturday I was delighted to host something of a little soiree, if you will, in my home for some of the lovely pureblooded girls who are classmates of my Little Dragon. I was most pleased at the turnout. In addition to the many students, Hilda and Sibyll were in attendance as well.

After giving the girls a bit of a tour, we settled into the drawing room where I proceeded to talk to the girls about how important in this day and age it is for one to be a proper lady. Etiquette, fashion, and hygeine are things that a young woman needs to concern herself with and strive to be an expert in each area. After I felt the ladies had gotten a good overview on that I continued to talk about the woman's role in the family. As any good hostess or presenter knows, one who uses visual aid more than likely not will leave a longer-lasting impression. What could I have used to illustrate my anecdotes about raising a family?

Why, I brought out old family albums. I must say, I had not looked at them in quite some time and was very tickled to see what a charming and beautiful baby Draco was. His boyhood pictures practically had me in tears; he was so very angelic. Of course these days he is dashing and ever so handsome. I can still see the angel in him, though. My perfect boy.

The next session after a few lectures from myself and Hilda, whom I must say had some very interesting viewpoints on romance, men, and travel tips, it was time to move on to some etiquette lessons. We women instructed the girls on proper posture, how to walk, the importance of balance, why one should not wear both vertical and horizontal stripes in the same outfit, proper manners of speech, how to correctly order a martini, the fashionable way to smoke skinny cigarettes in long and elagant holders, and how to properly sip tea from a cup. After we had consumed the tea Sibyll proceeded to teach the girls how to read their fortunes in the dredges of the leaves and foretold many things about each girl in the room. I do hope that her prediction for herself concerning an amber-eyed man comes true. Sibyll is simply a dear and deserves every happiness.

Next we came to what I had been waiting for all afternoon: the make-over session. Some of the girls seemed apprehensive about it but I insisted that we all toss our inhibitions to the wind and let down our hair. The first girl that I assisted was Draco's lovely friend Miss Bulstrode. As I had suspected, she was most definitely a Fall. Having spied dress robes earlier in the week that I thought would compliment her, I suggested she change into them to get into the spirit of things. Only with Miss Parkinson's help did I manage to persuade Miss Bulstrode to cooperate. She did look simply lovely, though, with her thinned and arched eyebrows and bronzed cheeks. I do not think she was very pleased when I informed her that the cosmetic charms would not wear off until sometime after the dinner hour on Monday evening.

At any rate, I must compliment Miss Bones for her willingness to try new things and attempt a few cosmetic charms. She really is a lovely girl when she puts a bit of effort to it and holds her head up high. I suspect that someone is not treating her as well as he should and he, quite frankly, should be ashamed of himself. Miss Turpin seemed to get a bit emotional when I suggested that she have the full make-over and attempt a few illusion charms. It merely occurred to me that she might want to hide some of her flab was all. I did not think the poor dear would become so stricken. Dear me. The Patil sisters are both very lovely looking although I do think that one is more becoming than the other. Perhaps I should not have voiced this aloud but sometimes the truth must be heard. A lady is more than aware of this and, as I am a lady, will take advantage of it when the situation arises. A few of the other girls also had their colours done. I think that even Hilda tried on a new rogue although she denied it when I asked her.

After the cosmetics session was over some of the girls asked Sibyll, Hilda, and myself various questions on being a woman in today's society. Eventually Hilda escorted the girls back to Hogwarts while Sibyll and myself had a drink and decided that I ought to host something like this every term.

The Mistress of the Manor's work is never done.

You, my darling, deserve nothing but the best. The necklace is a replica of one owned by Marie Aintoinette. I am so sorry that circumstances prevented my presenting you with a proper gift, but I do hope this will suffice.

Your loving husband.
