Charms and Cho. And Silly Soblessa.
I had a Charms exam today that went pretty well. It's easily one of my favourite classes. The hardest charm on the exam was the Bookmarking Charm. That's what everyone calls it, anyway, it's really called the Obtineo Charm, and casting it is pretty easy, but getting it to stay and casting two or more at a time on the same book or what have you is pretty difficult, since you essentially have to cast two charms that counteract each other. Soblessa and I had to practise for a while up in our room to get it right - we kept accidentally hitting each others' books and messing the spells up. We both had the Obtineo bit down, but the Compesco was getting us both. But practise makes perfect, and after a while it started working. I've seen Hermione casting the charm loads of times in the library, and hers always stays. Mine kind of wears off after a few minutes - but at least I can cast as many as I want and not have them all jump around. We're learning a lot of scholarly sorts of charms lately. Next week, we get to learn how to charm a quill to take dictation. It's not really the most ideal charm, because it will take down whatever it hears, which is usually a jumble of words that several people are saying, so you can only use it when one person is talking. There's a really big margin for error. We're not allowed to use them in our classes anyway.

*giggles* Ron, Hermione, and Harry, and more of the sixth years have all been going around with purple splotches on their skin. I saw that Malfoy was a bit splotchy himself, but one of the girls on the Slytherin Quidditch team seems to have really gotten doused. I wonder if it will go away anytime soon. I really like the colour purple, though. Cho Chang wore really pretty violet robes to the Bleu Ball and I always think of them when I see purple, now.

Speaking of Cho, when I saw her yesterday she was wearing her hair in this really pretty way, with these pearly blue chopsticks, in a knot on the back of her head. It was just so pretty, I stared at it all through dinner (which is funny because, where I usually sit at the Gryffindor table, I can't really see Cho... I sort of halfway stood up several times through dinner to gaze at her). I wonder if there's a charm for that sort of hairstyle? I think I'll ask her when I can. She is really nice. Maybe she can teach me how to do it. I do get a little tired of wearing my hair in braids all the time. I don't think it would flatter me as much as it flatters Cho, though. She's so pretty.

Soblessa's dancing around the room with a levitating robe and calling it Antoine. I must go speak to her in an outrageous French accent.

Ginny,

I am glad you liked my hair. That is so nice of you to say! I didn't do it with a charm, though. It's very easy. I can show if you would like, some time. I must admit, I know a lot of fancy hairstyles. My mother likes to teach them to me. Your hair always looks really nice.

Oh, Cho! Thank you! I bet I should pick up some little sticks next time we go to Hogsmeade, then. :D
