I had my meeting today with Professor Dumbledore. I guess he thinks that Snape's plan is fine, which I don't understand. When I told him that Ron had to have detention because I tripped, he just laughed and said that maybe now I will work on being more graceful. I thought it was hard to write in my journal before, but now I really don't know what to say because no matter what I write, Snape will probably find a reason to make Hannah Abbott clean the owlery or something.

I had my detention with Filch on Saturday night, and he made me wash and oil all these old torture machines down in the dungeons. At least, I think that's what they are. There was one that looked like a big wheel with a crank on the side, and there was a board at the bottom of it with spikes coming out of it. Filch said that they were here since at least the 1400s. He said that people had tried to get rid of them twenty years ago, but Professor Dumbledore told him he could keep them, and he was glad because he thought they might come in handy again some day. I tried to figure out what they all did at first, but that was pretty creepy so I then just tried to get done cleaning them as soon as I could.

I got back to the tower alot later than I thought I would, and I almost slept through the match on Sunday. I had to go by myself because I couldn't find Seamus or Dean or Neville anywhere, and when I tried to wake Ron up to go, he hit me in the nose.

It was a really good match, though. I think that Susan Bones is one of the best Keepers at Hogwarts. And Hufflepuff have fantastic Chasers, too. Claire Chapter is a really great Chaser. She might even be a bit better than Natalie, but Natalie's still pretty young. They did a really good job to keep the match so close. Sometimes I think it's almost not fair, that a side can work so hard and play so well and still lose, just because the other Seeker is so good. Slytherin played well, too, but the rest of the team isn't as good as Hufflepuff, I don't think.

Everyone is talking about the ball coming up. I don't know if I'm going to go. I thought I would go with Hermione, but I guess not. I don't even want to think about a ball when we're playing Ravenclaw the next week. Balls are silly, anyway.

I hit you in the nose, oh sorry about that, Harry, but the book is very bloody boring. How was the game? Are you feeling quite alright? The other Seeker is MALFOY! I think you need sleep. Uhm, what did Hermione say when you asked her, I mean, about the ball..

just_harry @ 2002-06-03 11:02 pm UTC

Nah, it's okay, Ron, it didn't even really hurt. I just figured that you probably wanted to sleep. I can't believe that you read Hogwarts, A History. That would put me to sleep, too.

Hermione said that she was flattered that I asked, but she wanted to go with a date, not with a good friend. I thought it would be a date, but I see her point, I guess. I just don't know who to ask now. I can't think of anyone else who is as cool as Hermione. Are you going to ask anyone?

knight_to_h3 @ 2002-06-03 11:26 pm UTC

I can't believe I tried to read that thing either, it makes Binns interesting! But at least Hermione is talking to me now. Oh, she said that, did she? Well, I see. I don't know who I'm going to ask. Probably Pig. But you know, HE probably already has a date who is not just a good friend. Lucky me, eh.

just_harry @ 2002-06-04 01:59 am UTC

Oh, don't take Pig. He's an awful dancer. And I think he has a thing for Terry Boot's owl.

I don't know who Hermione's going to go with now. She isn't seeing anyone, is she? She would have to tell us, wouldn't she? I think I'm going to skip the ball altogether.

knight_to_h3 @ 2002-06-04 03:56 am UTC

Pig likes Terry's owl? What the hell? Why am I always the last to know things? I don't know who Hermione is going with either and I'll probably be the last to know, as usual. Oh well. Good night, Harry.

Uh, Gin, that is not a very good idea. You should be going with a boy from your year really, or you can just not go at all. It's not safe for you to be at a ball, I'm sure Percy would agree. Where is Perce when you bloody need him?! Anyway I think Harry already has a date, uh, right Harry?

perfectprefect @ 2002-06-04 08:01 am UTC

For once, Ronald, I am in agreement with you.

Virginia, are you sure it's quite wise for you to be going to this ball? You never should have been allowed to go when you were thirteen. You are a young lady, and you should be attending with friends. Harry, though a boy with good intentions, is a full year older than you. Perhaps you could go with that Colin Creevey fellow; he's your age, and it seems you have a bit in common.

I would suggest that you not go to this ball, and persue something more intellectual. Perhaps with the rest of your House out of the Tower, you could work on your studies.

And Ronald. I am afraid to say, I would suggest the same for you. You certainly need it.

Love,
Percy

Save your big brother talk to Ginny, Perce, stop bugging me about my studies!

Ginny, just this once, listen to Percy!

Re:

Now look here! Ronald asked me for my opinion on the matter. I am as amazed that we are in agreement as you are.

F: We aren't too fond of the idea of Harry taking Ginny to the ball.

G: *cracks knuckles*

F: Not that Harry is a bad person. Quite admirable, really. We just suggest he find himself another date, preferably one his own age.

Don't worry, I'm not going with Ginny. In fact, I don't think I am going at all.

just_harry @ 2002-06-04 03:43 pm UTC

Thanks for asking me, Ginny. But everyone seems pretty unhappy about it, so maybe it's not the best idea. And I guess that Ron is already upset with me enough right now. Maybe for something else, is that okay? Really, though, thanks for asking.

knight_to_h3 @ 2002-06-04 07:14 pm UTC

I'm not upset with you, Harry, don't be silly. I just had a bad day, that's all. Care to join me for a round of chess?

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:39 pm UTC

Oh, you're right, Potter. I do feel awfully sorry for Hufflepuff, being seated against MY team, with . . . what was it you said? Oh, yes, when 'THE OTHER SEEKER IS SO GOOD.' Ha ha ha. Oh, and who is the Slytherin Seeker again? That's right, it's me. Why, Potter, I never knew you were a fan.

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:40 pm UTC

Oh, and if you'd like, Potter, I could give you some tips on flying. Just don't expect any miracles, now. Not all of us are born with The Touch.

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:43 pm UTC

Oh, and if you were saying I'm better than Hufflepuff, of course I am. I'm glad to see you can finally admit that, Potter.

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:45 pm UTC

So then, Potter, why don't you tell me how good my Seeking skills are? Do they make you nervous, Potter? Does it make you question your own potential? Of course, anyone can wipe the floor with Hufflepuff, I'll give you that. But don't you just worry that your team won't be able to cut it when Slytherin plays Gryffindor? "Just because the other Seeker is so good"?

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:46 pm UTC

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:48 pm UTC

And don't go thinking you can take that back now, either, Potter. Don't you feel much better now that you've admitted to my superior Quidditch skills?

potterstinks @ 2002-06-03 10:52 pm UTC

You're awfully quiet now, aren't you, Potter? Afraid to show your face now? Don't worry, everyone already knows what a great Seeker I am. They'll be glad you've finally owned up to it.

potterstinks @ 2002-06-04 12:39 am UTC

Your silence is obviously silent awe at my skills. I completely understand.

just_harry @ 2002-06-04 01:48 am UTC

That's not what I meant.

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2002-06-04 01:51 am UTC

It is so what you meant. I am the other Seeker. Face it, Potter, your little cryptic compliments aren't so hard to decipher. You know I've got game.

just_harry @ 2002-06-04 02:03 am UTC

You are impossible, do you know that?

Just forget it, okay?

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2002-06-04 02:17 am UTC

Oh, okay, Potter. We'll just keep this a secret. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone that you think I'm a superior Seeker.

Impossible? Hardly.

SHOVE OFF MALFOY!!!
Harry didn't mean what he said, did you Harry?!?! Harry's the best Seeker and you should be the one praising HIM!!
You know he could wipe the pitch with you! Harry would never be in awe of your "skills"! You have NO SKILLS!!!!

I didn't mean it like he thinks I did, anyway. Don't worry about him, Colin. He just likes to listen to himself talk.

In case you hadn't noticed, this is the Internet. I can't bloody well hear myself talk when everything I'm saying is written.

susanbones @ 2002-06-04 03:31 am UTC

hi, harry.

thank you for saying that i'm a good keeper. you're a very good seeker. the slytherins are kind of mean, and they were really mean to my chasers, but i guess it was a fair match, i mean they didn't cheat as much as they do when they play gryffindor. i guess. anyway, thanks. good luck against ravenclaw :)

your friend,
susan

just_harry @ 2002-06-04 03:38 pm UTC

You're a great Keeper, Susan! I mean, really, you are! I really think you are the best here. And you had a really good game, too. They only won by 20 points is all. Hufflepuff was clearly the better team, just, sometimes it happens that way, you know? Which is all I meant, really. I'm sorry you guys didn't win. Especially when you play such a clean game and Slytherin doesn't.

Maybe you and me and Ron and some of the others can get together and have a scrimmage sometime, do you think? I think it could be fun.

Harry.

Re:

it's ok that we didn't win. i know we haven't been doing so great in the past couple years. i'm just proud of my teammates for keeping up such a good fight against slytherin :)

a scrimmage sounds really fun! maybe we could get some of the ravenclaws in on it. oh but i guess maybe that should wait until after gryffindor's played them. ;) but yeah that would be really neat!
