Mother's Present
To my surprise, this morning when I got up to take Draco another pot of special tea and a plate of freshly made crumpets, he was no where to be found. I wonder if he has not gone back to Madame Pomfrey's? Alas, poor Draco, of course, seemed to be in such pain yesterday. This is all so very upsetting, and I cannot help but wish with all my heart that he will feel much better today than he did yesterday. Millicent and I are quite determined to make things as easy on him as possible but I fear it may not be enough to alleviate him from all the stress he has been under recently. Strangely enough, I have also not been able to find Millicent since last night either.

It should also be said I received an owl from my mother today, with it came two packages, one from her and another from my father. Father has sent me the most beautiful silk blanket imported from China with a note wishing me a "Happy Birthday" and saying that he knew how very uncomfortable I found the ones at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, he seemed quite busy as the letter was fairly short, and I don't think it was in his handwriting (I suppose he had his personal assistant to quill it for him as most successful business men do) but he did sign it - Father has such an elegant signature. Still I do wish he had written more, but he has his work to be concerned about so I shall not blame him. Father is going to India this Friday, Mother informs me. She, of course, wrote a much longer letter.

"Your father shall be away for a week or more on another one of his business trips. I do wish that you would come visit me this weekend while he is away because you know how very lonesome I get when he is gone. Also, it is your birthday after all, and I would like to spend some time with you."
On the subject of birthdays, Mother writes:
"Pansy, I saw an ad for this in Witches' Weekly and I immediately thought it would be so very perfect for you. It is called Thighmagic and it claims to "slim and trim your thighs and buttocks" in a matter of weeks! My darling girl, after all, you are now dating Draco Malfoy and you must be sure to always look your best! Are you still eating all those sweets? You really ought to cut back as you know as well as I do that you are not one of those girls who can eat whatever she likes and not suffer for it. But, no matter, Happy Birthday, dear daughter of mine! You know I only want the best for you."
Honestly! I do think I'm coming down with something of a headache. Perhaps I shall stop by Madame Pomfrey's. After all, I would like to see if there's anything more that can be done for Draco, and besides, I really need to get a refill on my prescription. Yet that is an entirely different matter. In any case, I wrote mother back immediately thanking her and father for their presents so she wouldn't think me rude, but I admit her letter had left me quite speechless.

My mother certainly can be! My father is just terribly busy. But it doesn't matter, darling, I have wonderful people like you and Draco in my life.

Perhaps so. I would ask to share your parents, but if memory serves, they are not much better.

Something many people have not learned and yet, probably ought to have.

My apologies. I am afraid I have given neither you nor Draco the love you deserve. I shall try and think of ways to make it up to you. Though, feel free to offer suggestions, darling.
