As it turns out, I have been accepted for an internship at the International Magical Office of Law with the possibility of a permanent position, depending on both my N.E.W.T.s and my performance there. I am very excited about this and the fact that Millicent and I have begun to look for a flat together. The two of us have decided that it would be best for our future health and happiness that we no longer live with our mothers. I wrote my father telling him of all my plans, both of my prospective living arrangements and my upcoming employment. I had been hoping my father would write me back before school was out, but that seems less and less likely.

Though my father has been preoccupied, Mother on the other hand did find the time to write to let me know that Queenie Greengrass is in a very serious relationship with Miles Bletchley and that they are practically engaged. This is hardly news to me, however, as Queenie has done nothing but keep Millicent, Tracey Davis, and I up to all hours of the evening with her stories about her relationship. I am not certain how long she and Miles have known each other, but I do recall the very night Queenie informed us of her first date with him - and that was scarcely two months ago. Yet, it seems that only last week Miles bought her a promise ring (which I suppose is rather like an engagement ring for engagement rings). Queenie tells me they plan to get married before next winter and is absolutely elated by the idea of it. In fact, since receiving the ring, she has given studying up entirely for pouring over catalogues of dresses and dinnerware and invitation cards. She tells me that it really doesn't matter how she is doing on her N.E.W.T.s since Miles Bletchley has a "very secure" position at his family's company. I congratulated her, of course, but personally, I would not be ready for marriage at eighteen. I did not tell her this, however, as I figured it was not my place, but Tracey Davis had no qualms about informing Queenie exactly of what she thought about the last name "Bletchley."

As for the N.E.W.T.s, they are indeed a challenge but I do believe they are going well, despite the fact that my hands have begun to ache exceedingly from all the writing. Although I would have preferred to cast my own pain relief spell, I stopped by Madame Pomfrey's this morning for some treatment since our wands still have not been returned and because I had to see her anyway. My hands, in any case, are feeling much better. Still, it does make me ever so much more impatient for when we shall finally be done with these tests. I do believe I shall make a nice three layer cake for Draco, Millicent, and I when we finally finished with it all. I think I shall have gained five pounds after this whole affair due to the snack breaks Millicent, Draco, and I have done in between studying, and the food I intend to eat in celebration of its end.

Who gets engaged before leaving Hogwarts? Surely she realises there are other wizards in the world. I rather think that Tracey Davis and I agree about the surname 'Bletchley.' How dull.

I ought to point my mother straight to this comment right here as she seems to think Queenie is very clever for getting "almost engaged" to the first boy who asked her. Of course, her idea of clever does not take into account that Queenie will likely get a 1 on her N.E.W.T.s with the way she has been preparing for them.

More importantly, darling, how are you doing? Do you need a shoulder or neck massage?

Oh, do feel free. Unless, of course, your mother met your father at Hogwarts, in which case perhaps it would be inappropriate.

I'm quite all right, although my shoulders do ache from writing all day. Would you like to borrow the hand loosening lotion My Mother sent me?

Oh, darling, the lotion would be wonderful as while Madame Pomfrey's spell was effective, it was not long lasting. In any case, I am not surprised you are in need of a massage as the chairs we are forced to sit on are terribly hard and horrid.

As for my mother, she did indeed meet my father during Hogwarts, but he had enough sense not to ask her to marry him until two years later.

It's a shame it only works on hands, as it would be nice for our shoulders at irritating times like this. On the other hand, soon I shall develop a blister from holding my quill.

Your father's slightly less extreme than your mother, I suppose, though I still feel twenty's a bit young. I'd rather wait until I'm thirty, as what does one do if one meets someone better later?

Everyone is "very clever" to your mother.

Where are you?

Theodore just told a joke only you would appreciate.

My mother's idea of clever tends to be a bit broad, but they do say that one's judgement of things is often very relative.

I was hiding in the girl's dormitory. I saw Queenie sneaking about and I was sure she meant to corner me with talk of Miles. But she's finally gone away. Draco and I are going to dinner soon. Shall I see you there?

No, you shall not.

Perhaps later.

Be sure that I do. You know how much I do like my feet to be warm at nights.

Oh, Miss Parkinson! Congratulations on your internship! Two thumbs up! Good luck, good luck, good luck with your N.E.W.T.s and if my wife asks, I never commented here! You will go far, young woman.

Cordially,

Arthur Weasley.
