Card Signing
The week has gone fairly well. I was very pleased with how the card-signing went. Almost everyone from sixth year signed it, as well as many of the students from the other grades. I don't believe I have ever seen so many non-Slytherins come to our table in my life. Another person who came to visit our table was Draco's auburn haired friend also but I don't think her intention was to sign the card as she never even approached me. She just kept trying to talk to Draco.

The Inter-House Exchange Program has also recieved some positive feedback from the headmaster, so if all goes well, I just may be able to pull this off.

I must admit I am a little concerned over Professor Lupin. He has canceled the Dracology lesson without giving a glimpse of the reason why, especially when prior to this he stressed the importance of the subject matter. I suppose it is not my place to question this. Still I cannot help but wonder with all these full-moon absences and the possible cancellation of an important lecture if we are getting a thorough enough education in CoMC as will be needed on NEWTs.

Pansy,

Do not question the cancelled lessons.

Just pretend to look disappointed and the world goes on.

Millicent,

Perhaps you are right.

Miss Parkinson, your concern is appreciated but not necessary. The lecture is not cancelled but rather just delayed, and the reason for this currently lies unconscious in the hospital wing. Forgive me for assuming that this did not need further explanation.

As for my class, I am sorry that your education is threatened by my personal disability.

Prof. Lupin

Professor,

I am sure you can understand my concern. In most cases, when a teacher is absent, a substitute is found, particularly in circumstances where their date of absence can be predicted. I appreciate the occassional days off, but continuous lecture cancellation can be a concern, as I think any student who is serious about their educationw ould agree.

As for your reasons for cancelling the Dracology lecture, I admit I had not made the connection since most of the other academic scheduling has gone on undeterred.

Miss Parkinson,

One cancelled class (the first of this term, I might add) and a postponed lecture does not an epidemic make. I can assure you, Miss Parkinson, that the fate of your education is not as dire as you might think.

Regarding the lecture, Professor Black is and will be assisting me during its course, and as his presence was quite important I saw fit to postpone the lesson until he is ready and able to attend. As he has regained consciousness as of today, you will be happy to learn that the lecture will be now rescheduled as soon as possible.

And I expect to see you in punctual attendance, of course.

If you have any other complaints, I'm certain that the Headmaster would be delighted to hear them. I shall make an appoinment with him for you, if you wish.

Professor,

I assure you the Headmaster sees quite enough of me I am sure. However, I wonder why you are so defensive as I merely voiced a concern and speculation about potential problems in the future which is perfectly legitimate given the situation. I am hardly petitioning for a resignation, replacement, or anything similar, nor have I insinuated that this situation is "dire" as you put it. Rather I enjoy your lectures and I look forward to the upcoming Dracology lecture.

I thank you for taking the time to clarify the situation, but I cannot help but feel this discussion is doing neither of us any good.

Pansy,

Again, I thank you for your concern and apologise if I came off sounding a bit caustic earlier. It is true, I was somewhat defensive toward you with regard to my classes, and I assure you it's of no fault on your part. I'm afraid the moon is waxing again and that does have a tendency to make me a bit testy and I do hope you'll forgive me for taking it out on you. That said, I hope I've also made it clear that I would not dare allow the education of my students to suffer from the effects of my eternal curse, and that I make every possible effort to see to it that things are taken care of. Unfortunately, occasions do arise where circumstances are simply beyond my control, and there's little I can do.

That said, I am pleased that you enjoy the lectures - such attentiveness is becoming increasingly rare among the students despite my best efforts to keep things interesting - and that you are looking forward to the lecture. I am sure it will be quite memorable.

By the way, would you mind keeping notes in your classes for Vincent Crabbe during his most unfortunate absence? It would be a shame for him to fall behind, and based on your essays I am confident that your notes would be the best sort of assistance he could get.

Thank you,
Professor Lupin

Professor,

I am relieved it wasn't me you were truly angry with as you know how much I respect you as a teacher. If I seem to misunderstand sometimes, it is only because this is the first Professor I've ever had, and I do believe most students have ever had, with your unfortunate circumstance.

I would be more than happy to take notes for Vincent. I am pleased you think high enough of me to ask such a responsibility of me.

Best Wishes,
Pansy
