Helping Tracey Davis
Tracey Davis and Draco Malfoy had their date last night. I do believe I am correct in presuming, however, that the date did not go well. Last night, I found Tracey under her covers crying.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. You see, Tracey Davis is a rather nice girl. She and I are hardly as good friends as Millicent and I but I have always found her quite pleasant to talk to. When she told me Draco had asked her on a date, why, I offered to help her get ready for it. She didn't want to trouble me, though, but I insisted and I helped her pick out a lovely dress for the evening. Then we set off to apply some makeup.

Tracey had just ordered a new brand from Italy that I had never really heard of. She was very excited, however, and she'd been bragging for quite a while that she was getting it. It was just her luck that it had come by owl the night before. The colours were beautiful and they accented her skin tone and eye colour perfectly. Why, Tracey Davis never looked more beautiful when I saw her leave.

However, you all know the end to this story I'm sure, I found her crying. I had been looking for her after Draco had told me their date was a disaster. I demanded, of course, that she the blanket off her head and talk to me properly. And by Merlin's beard, I almost wish I hadn't asked.

Her face was... It is quite hard to describe. Her skin was a mix of patchy colors, purple and green and spots of red. Her nose had grown three times its size, the area around her eyes had swollen until you could barely see her eyes at all, and hairs had sprouted on her chin. Tracey was hysterical, sobbing the entire time about how she hadn't known why Draco had simply walked off from there date. She'd returned to our dorm room and to try and talk to Millicent, Queenie, and Sally-Anne, but they had all just stared at her in horror before bursting out in laugher. That was when she'd finally gone to a mirror and saw what happened. The poor dear had been crying ever since.

I did feel so very sorry for her. It just seemed like horrible luck that it had happened, and I told her so. The girl, however, was so upset and was blurting out the most ridiculous nonsense. She even tried to accuse me of putting something in her make up. Whyever would I do such a thing? But she could hardly blame me for her bad luck, and if she wanted to blame someone, she ought to have blamed that obscure Italian company she'd ordered her cosmetics from. She knew as well as I did the risks of getting imported cosmetics, particularly from a company that was not well known here in Great Britain. I explained that all to her and I even was about to give her a hug. However, the poor dear overreacted because she couldn't see very well due to her swollen eyes. She thought I was coming at her and so, she tried to back away, but she just fell, feet in the air, off her bed. I tried not to laugh but it was such a strange thing to see that the humour of it hit me full force.

After I had helped her to her feet, I told her she had to go and see Madame Pomfrey. She didn't want to go out of the Slytherin room, however, but I told her she had to. I said to her, if she was afraid of anyone seeing her, she should not worry because it was quite late and I was certain everyone had gone to bed. Unfortunately, I was quite mistaken about this. Apparently, many of the Slytherins were still in the common room and they all were terribly insensitive, laughing at poor Tracey as she ran past them. Still, she made it to the infirmary quite all right and that's what counts. I do believe she shall be staying there for a while. And would you believe, she sprained her wrist from that fall off the bed?
