WHY ARE YOUR FATHER'S PRUNING SHEARS IN THE SINK COVERED IN DOUGH?!

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 02:42 am UTC

The dough stuck the chairs to the table! I had to cut them apart with SOMETHING, didn't I!

wehaveseven @ 2003-07-31 02:52 am UTC

WHAT WERE YOU DOING RONALD TELL ME RIGHT NOW OR I'LL BE FORCED TO THINK YOU'VE BAKED A LOAF OF BREAD THAT TURNS YOU INTO A CHRISTMAS TREE OR SOMETHING, IF FRED AND GEORGE HAVE BEEN GIVING YOU IDEAS!

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 02:57 am UTC

Uh I made you some icing you can use later? The colour's a bit funny though

You asked!

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 03:11 am UTC

What did you make, Ron? That was very thoughtful of you.

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 03:16 am UTC

Uh cupcake, but I couldn't find those tiny paper things those cupcakes are born in so I used a cup.. What did you get him?

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 03:21 am UTC

You used a cup? I suppose that would be interesting, wouldn't it? I can't believe you baked, Ron. I'm impressed.

Well, it is supposed to be a surprise, but I did send the package off a few days ago, so I expect Harry will have got it by now. I stopped by that Quidditch shop in Diagon Alley you both drool over so often--you know, the one with the fancy broomsticks in the window with all the nose prints on it--and found a very useful rainproof cloak. It repels water and has warming charms on the inside, so it should be quite handy for Quidditch. Don't worry; I didn't get him an assignment planner, though I can't see why you think that's an improper gift as they do work so nicely. Gifts can be useful and fun.

perfectprefect @ 2003-07-31 03:25 am UTC

Hermione, I could not agree with you more. I do not see why a gift cannot be a useful tool. I feel a book is a gift that keeps on giving, unlike perhaps sweets, which can be eaten so quickly and only provide tooth decay.

Ronald, that is not even a word.

O:

(parent)
perfectprefect @ 2003-07-31 08:21 pm UTC

Now it is a backwards nonexistent word. What sort of message are you trying to convey, Ronald?

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 08:26 pm UTC

I HATE APPARATION PERCE

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 03:46 am UTC

Hermione, other than you, NOBODY wants a present that tells them they have to do homework! No really, I'm not joking.

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 07:26 pm UTC

That's not true. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love a little organisation in their life.

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 07:49 pm UTC

Those are not people, those are house elves!

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 07:56 pm UTC

Oh, right, house-elves really need to keep track of their assignments. I suppose after that they'll need a bookmark for the books they're not allowed to have.

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 08:10 pm UTC

Why don't you leave a library around for Dobby to pick up???

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 08:23 pm UTC

Because house-elves don't even know how to read. Which you would know, if you'd bothered to read anything at all about S.P.E.W.!

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 08:24 pm UTC

I'm surprised spew is not teaching them how to read then! I thought you don't know people who can't read.

(parent)
just_harry @ 2003-07-31 07:16 pm UTC

I got it. It's brilliant. Thanks, Hermione. I don't think I can use it in matches, but it'll be perfect for practices.

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 07:25 pm UTC

You can't? Well, I don't see why not. It's a perfectly legal garment sold specifically from Quidditch shops; surely there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, who wants to fly around in all that rain? Oh, well. Happy birthday, Harry! Are you having a nice day?

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 07:47 pm UTC

Who wants to fly around in all that rain?? Who wants to fly around in all that rain?! It's Quidditch we're talking about here! Who wants to fly around in all that rain? Honestly Hermione!

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 07:55 pm UTC

Well! I only meant that if you are going to fly around in the rain, I don't see why you can't have a garment to keep yourself from catching your death. Really. What's so non regulation about not wanting to turn into a drowned rat?

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 08:13 pm UTC

It's just RAIN! We might as well ask all the Quidditch teams to hang one of those Muggle Umlalas on our brooms just in case it rains!

(parent)
missgranger @ 2003-07-31 08:23 pm UTC

You can't see in the rain! Why do you think Harry's asked me to put charms on his glasses before?

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 08:26 pm UTC

Not everyone on the team wears glasses, you know!

Happy birthday to Harry

I'll give you a proper 'hip hip hurrah' at the party, but meanwhile wanted to echo Ron and say 'Happy Birthday, Harry.' Many happy returns and all that.

Cheers,
Neville

just_harry @ 2003-07-31 07:12 pm UTC

I got it. Thanks! I didn't know you could cook. You still have the other ear, right? You're going to be at the party this weekend, right? So I'll see you then?

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-07-31 07:24 pm UTC

Anytime, mate! I didn't know I could cook either! What are you getting for Professor Dumbledore? Should I give him the other ear?

(parent)
perfectprefect @ 2003-07-31 07:38 pm UTC

Hello, Harry. Happy birthday. Have you got everything you wanted? I see you have chosen a photograph of yourself with a quill to represent your journal; shall I take this to mean you have been hard at work on your studies? It is quite responsible of you to get to work, as no doubt you remember that your NEWTs are approaching swiftly! I only wish Ronald would take a leaf from your book! However, do not fret; I have been assisting Ronald in preparation for his Apparation exam and he seems to have quite a knack at it, so do not think he has spent the holidays wasting away. Have you begun learning your Apparation? How is your summer? I am pleased to hear you will be able to attend Professor Dumbledore's 'bash', as they say. I look forward to seeing you then. Perhaps we could have a nice chat and catch up!

Fondly,
Percy
