Since the anniversary of our wedding day two weeks ago, Lucius and I have been very busy. Traveling, shopping, conversing, and simply spending time alone together has taken up a great deal of our time as of late.
Admittedly, when I first returned home to the Manor things were rather uncomfortable between us. I was still quite hurt by the very things that had prompted me to leave the Manor in the first place and took pains to keep a proper distance from Lucius. Although it was surely as difficult for him as it was for me, he made certain that I would have my space until we were both truly ready to make ammends. The day of our anniversary was the day, coincidentally enough, that this was so.
To celebrate our long-lasting union, I bought Lucius a quaint little island and had Ceely, one of our house elves, deliver the legal paperwork to him in a most attractively wrapped packet. Lucius, in turn, had Ceely return my anniversary gift to me in the form of a most adorable kitten. I found the kitten (now named Gaea) to be very sweet and tiny and perfect that I was quite satisfied with her as my gift. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed two items fastened to her little teal collar. The villa, although unexpected, was a pleasant surprise. I have always wanted to own property in the Northern Caribbean and it was very thoughtful of Lucius to gift me with the very thing for which I had been yearning for some time.
As for the ring on Gaea's collar, it was one that was both not new to me and something of great sentimental value. The ring was my wedding ring, something I had returned to Lucius via owl just after I had departed Malfoy Manor. I was quite surprised to see it dangling from the kitten's collar and could barely detach it on account of my fingers had begun to tremble so. Once I had managed to free it, I placed it in the center of my palm, taking time to simply stare at the endless circle of diamonds there that had at one time been placed upon my fingers accompanied by a vow that had struck me to the very core of my being with the reverence of it all.
I do not know how long I had stood there in the foyer staring at that circlet of diamonds in my hand. In the end it does not really matter as the night ended the same regardless of whether or not I knew of how long I had remained rooted to my spot. The door creaked open after a time and before I had a chance to turn toward the sound, Lucius was standing before me with my ring steadied between his thumb and first finger, his free hand taking hold of my left one, his lips whispering to me those vows we had taken all those years ago, his hand gently sliding the ring upon my finger to its rightful place. Overcome with emotion, I could scarecly get out the words that had been imbedded into my mind and heart but managed to return them. We then managed to completely heal all wounds and took a portkey to Egypt, where we enjoyed dinner watching the sun set behind the pyramids. We stayed in Egypt for a few days before returning to the Manor for a few days and then relocating to Lucius's new island and then my villa. We have only just come back to the Manor from our impromptu holiday on Monday but I am afraid that Lucius may have to take a business trip shortly. Although I shall miss him terribly if he leaves, I do have an appointment of my own to which I must attend. I have been rather lax in corresponding with a particular business associate of mine and I daresay that he sent me a howler only this morning. I must be off to have a visit with him shortly. I do hope that he is understanding of the difficult times that I have had lately and will not be too upset with me.
