On Sunday I played Quidditch with Ron and Ginny and her friend Soblessa and I didn't do very good, so I wasn't playing "too well", so I don't suppose anyone will be getting detention for that. Ron and Soblessa won because I wasn't doing good, so I felt kind of bad that I let Ginny down like that, but I had to go to the library because Hermione was waiting for me so we could work on our History of Magic essays. We had to do fifteen inches on Yvonne the Young and I could only get thirteen done but then I found another book on ancient housegoblins and she was in it so I got fifteen done and the essay isn't even due until Friday. Hermione had to go to meet with a couple of the other Prefects and it was pretty late so I went back to the common room and I played Scrabble with Ron and Ginny to make up for not paying attention during the Quidditch game. Ginny played really good, I guess she learned from Percy, and she made 'ortho', which was a really good word she said Hermione taught her. Ron did really good too, and I came in last, so I wasn't being cheeky or anything, so I guess there's nothing wrong there either.

Yesterday I had Quidditch practise first thing in the morning, so I missed breakfast and didn't waste any food or spill any. Then we had Care of Magical Creatures and Professor Lupin was away so Professor Sinistra was teaching, and we weren't allowed to talk alot, so I didn't disrupt class or anything. It was okay, but I don't think Professor Sinistra was really happy about doing it so she was kind of annoyed with us, I guess because it was Gryffindor and Slytherin and probably no one likes teaching that. Then I had Transfiguration with the Hufflepuffs and I tried to talk to Justin Finch-Fletchley before class started but he wouldn't talk to me so I didn't get to. Then Professor McGonagall came in so I didn't talk anymore. It took me three times to turn my salt shaker into a vase, which isn't too much or too little, I think it's just the average amount, so I guess no one's going to get detention for that. After that we had History of Magic and Professor Binns went over everything about Yvonne the Young again, even though he'd just done it on Friday so I didn't have to go through all those books in the library, because I took notes today, but my essay is already done so I'll just keep them for N.E.W.T.s. At lunch I had chicken sandwiches and pumpkin juice, and I gave my custard to Neville because I didn't feel like having any. We were supposed to have double Defence Against the Dark Arts after that, but Sirius was away for the weekend so Hermione and me went back to Gryffindor and everyone was sitting around talking about Hallowe'en because it's really soon. I can't really get excited about Hallowe'en, but I guess I should. I worked on my Transfiguration for awhile and then I read Quidditch Through the Ages for a bit. All the sixth years had Astronomy last night and I shared a telescope with Ron, even though he's usually been sharing with Hermione, and Professor Sinistra got mad because Ron was trying to look into Ravenclaw Tower with it and then Hermione got mad, too. Lavender and Parvati looked like they were going to yell for us ruining the lesson but class was over so that didn't happen.

Today we had double Potions first thing with the Slytherins, which is a great way to start the day and I'm very thankful for it. Potions all the time would be a dream come true, I think. Snape partnered me with Neville and said we had to use Neville's cauldron and Neville's cauldron is bent kind of funny and really thin in some spots. Percy Weasley would probably be really upset if he saw it. So our potion didn't all stay inside the cauldron and some of it leaked out, but I cleaned it up with an Absorption Charm and made it stay in the cauldron so Snape couldn't find anything to take points off for. We only got half marks because our serum was alot more of a crimson than it was scarlet, and I know there's a big difference there. Snape looked really mad that he couldn't think of anything to give out the last detention for, but I'm pretty sure he'll cheer up and think of something. We had Charms after that and Professor Flitwick was kind of ill so we didn't do much, just worked on making water from our wands and I didn't spill any of mine anywhere except in my bowl so I didn't make any messes. Then in double Transfiguration I had my homework done on time, since I finished it when I was supposed to have Defence Against the Dark Arts yesterday, so Professor McGonagall said I did well, but she didn't give me any outstanding marks or start jumping up and down for me or anything so it wasn't too well. And then we had Divination, and apparently Libras born near the end of the month when the moon is full are expected to find themselves stricken with magical leprosy, which makes all your skin fall off and turn into flowers when it hits the ground. I'm a Leo but Professor Trelawney said she meant Leo, not Libra, so I guess that will work out nicely. At dinner Lavender and Parvati wouldn't sit near me on a count of the leprosy, which I guess is understandable, but my ear didn't fall off in anyone's soup, so I didn't practise poor table manners, even with my new leprosy.

Then after dinner I went up to our dormitory to try and do some revising for Defence Against the Dark Arts but Seamus was in there and I got the feeling he wanted to be left alone so I went to the library instead. Some of the Slytherins were there but they didn't see me, so there wasn't any ruckus in the library, but I think I could have just let some skin fall off in their direction and settled things that way if it had come to that. Then after I finished that I started looking through some other books and now I'm updating my journal, too, so I guess no one's going to get detention because I'm not keeping up with this project. Next I'll go back to Gryffindor and go to bed, and I'll make sure not to sleepwalk, just in case I end up sleepwalking past curfew.

Awfully worried about Professor Snape giving out that last detention, aren't you, Potter? Perhaps that has to do with the fact that I'm the only one who hasn't received one yet. My, my, are you that worried about being hexed? You're right to be afraid.

At lunch I had chicken sandwiches and pumpkin juice, and I gave my custard to Neville because I didn't feel like having any.

What a fascinating read this was, Potter. I'm sure Professor Snape will love it.

Thank you for a fascinating look at the mundane life of a myopic adolescent.

I have been informed that your behaviour as of late has been impeccable to the point of sainthood.

...what are you up to, Potter?

just_harry @ 2002-10-23 08:55 am UTC

Just keeping up with my studies, Professor. Was there something wrong with that?

Careful that you don't study too hard, Potter. Someone might suspect that you are up to something.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the advice, it'll be a big help.

I don't think I like your tone, Potter.

You ARE up to something, aren't you?

Harry,

I must say I'm impressed. Your most recent record of almost impeccable behaviour has proven that Professor Snape's theory holds some truth. You do not in fact possess an inability to behave properly rather you are quite capable of it given the proper motivation. I thank you on Draco's behalf, and hope you continue to act in such an admirable fashion.

Best Wishes,
Pansy

just_harry @ 2002-10-23 08:30 pm UTC

Uh, thanks, Pansy. I think.

Harry, you did really well at Scrabble when you spelled "boogies" and "scar." You got a lot of points! I think we should play again sometime! If you want to, I mean.

Also, I'm, er, really happy to see you're doing well. :)

just_harry @ 2002-10-23 08:29 pm UTC

Sure. It was fun. I'd like that.

but Seamus was in there and I got the feeling he wanted to be left alone so I went to the library instead

Er, yeah, I was waiting for Another Roommate. If you know what I mean. Yeah.

I'm sorry mate. Man, we need to work out a schedule for this stuff.

just_harry @ 2002-10-23 08:28 pm UTC

Uh, yeah, I know what you mean. I don't mind. I just didn't want to, you know, disturb. Yeah.

I truly do not understand why you've stuck with Divination all these years. It's complete and utter rubbish and you know it! I don't know why you didn't switch to something more useful - Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, even Muggle Studies would be better.

And what WAS Ron trying to see with the telescope in Ravenclaw Tower?!

just_harry @ 2002-10-25 06:20 pm UTC

I don't know, at least I know what's going on in Divination. And I don't want to leave Ron with Professor Trelawney alone, and he won't switch to something harder now.

And, er, I don't actually know.

Ha! When's arithmancy going to come in use, tell me that, hmm?
