I, for one, don't see what the fuss about Hallowe'en is. Of course, since costumes are mandatory, I've already chosen mine, but with the way everyone is going on about them, you'd think we were six-year-olds. Honestly, one little ball and the entire castle acts like they've been chosen to play for the Falmouth Falcons. Perhaps you've all forgotten what a sodding bore the Bleu Ball was; not to mention the Yule Ball in fourth year. Do we really need anymore bloody excuses to gather in the Great Hall? I'm fairly certain I see enough of you all during meals.
The annual Malfoy Hallowe'en Gala is to be held the weekend after the ball here. Despite the fact that a great deal of the professors shall be attending and Prefects will be needed, My Father thinks that it would be a good idea if I went as well. So, I shall be spending that weekend at the Manor, as per My Family's request. My Mother has informed me that I may bring guests, but I think that I shall attend solo. Since, of course, My Parents feel it is so important that I come home, surely I don't need to take any source of even slight entertainment. I've already e-mailed Pansy and Millicent in this regard, and I'm sure Crabbe and Goyle won't notice the difference.
However, this does not mean Sunday's eight a.m. Quidditch practise is off. I still expect all of you to attend. As usual, I will know who is late and who is not. I'd hope you could manage without me for one day, but I do have my doubts.
