Current mood:average

At last the world has returned to the hum and drum of normal life immediately following the holidays. While I do most certainly enjoy Christmas and all of its bravado, I find that I prefer life in its quiet stages. It is much easier to accomplish things when the world is at its calm.

The Ministry of Magic always finds itself quite busy after the holidays. I myself prefer a good day of solid work to one left wandering in search of something to do. It reminds me of Paulius the Procrastinator, who one day finally set to accomplish all of the tasks he had put aside and finished them in such time that he no longer had anything in his life to procrastinate about. He also had no more work to finish, and was thus left to wander.

This afternoon I took lunch with Lowell Perkins from Father's department. He is quite a charming old man, if slightly self-contained. I had attempted to offer him a hand down from the lift, but he assured me that he did not need one and quite clearly did not. I offered to purchase him lunch in form of apology for my impertinance, but yet again I found myself thwarted since he was quite content with his gherkin sandwiches. I do believe he opened up to me, as he did offer me a sandwich, which I politely declined.

I have only just returned from work as I had numerous tasks to complete for Minister Fudge this evening. There is still quite a bit of mess to clean up from the unfortunate incident at Hogwarts last term, even now.

To my delight, I discovered an early edition of Know Your Cauldron in Wiltshire at the weekend, so I intend to spend this evening digesting it; not literally speaking, of course.
