Current mood: chipper

Recently I have taken to the consideration of purchasing a pet. My owl, Hermes, is practical and prompt, though he is frequently off delivering post. I once had a rat called Scabbers, though Ronald inherited him when I was made Prefect and given Hermes by my parents in my fifth year. I found that I enjoyed keeping Scabbers as a pet. Often I have missed the responsibility of pet-care. My flat, as well, could likely use the company! While I keep several arachnids in my office at the Ministry of Magic, they cannot precisely be considered pets. In fact, they were already there when I took up residence.

I do not doubt that felines are fine creatures, but with my busy schedule this would be impractical. I have, instead, considered fish.

Miss Clearwater, an associate at the Ministry of Magic, informs me that fish are not truly pets, as one cannot interact with them. Balderdash, I say. I have not the time to manage a pet which requires much attention. Both my mother and Miss Clearwater have informed me that my flat is 'depressing', so I imagine that a few brightly coloured fish are just the trick.

Tomorrow morning I shall be setting off on a sojourn to Croix due to important business with the Ministry of Magic. I cannot share the details at this date, but Minister Fudge did inform me that I was the perfect man to do the work.

Recently I have acquired a book of random facts. Was anyone aware that a human can remain conscious from anywhere up to thirty seconds after being decapitated? The usual length of time is eight seconds. It is macabre, certainly, but also interesting to consider.

Why don't you get some plants and name them?

Do not be outlandish. Plants are not the same as pets.

For normal people, sure. For you they'd be perfect. Plants don't have ears!

Why do you insist upon terrorising me?

Because you're a big headed arse?

I think fish are right up your alley, Percy!
