Current mood: anticipatory

None.
I am quickly updating this log between shifts at the Ministry. My life has become quite overwhelming of late. There are many things to be done and many preparations to be made within the next few weeks. It shall be quite trying, but I do believe that the ends will justify the strenuous means. This is often the case in life, I find.

The Ministry of Magic has been working tirelessly to discover the means of Peter Pettigrew's escape from Azkaban. All good things, however, must end. Despite the reluctancy of certain members of the Department of Mysteries, I myself feel that we are exhausting our resources towards something that no longer needs the attention it is being given. I am not, however, a member of the Department of Mysteries. Minister Fudge and myself, among others, have ceased dwelling upon the past and now look to the future. The future shall be brighter, more so for some than others.

In regards to Pettigrew, though, it is certainly interesting to see what situations like this one bring out in people.

I do not have the time required to put proper effort into this entry. For that I apologise. Soon I shall have far more time; for now, however, I am afraid this brief update will have to make do. I hope that things are adequate elsewhere in the Wizarding World--particularly at Hogwarts after the unfortunate break-in. That was most regretful, but the Ministry does not believe there will be a repeat of this situation. I hope that everyone will sleep much more 'tightly' this evening.

The future will be brighter more so for who, Percy?

perfectprefect @ 2004-05-23 10:39 pm UTC

The future is always brighter for some, Harry!

Then who let Wormtail out of Azkaban? Why isn't that important?

While I am aware that I am fairly clever, I am not entirely certain why people are under the impression that I would have all of the answers to this riddle, Harry. We do have our suspicions about the possible traitor, but you need not worry about it.

Because you're preparing for something and said the future's going to brighter for some people. So you seem like you know something's going to happen. So I don't see why you wouldn't know who let Wormtail out of Azkaban. And who are your suspicions? Someone who has the skeleton keys, I reckon.

Does this mean the Ministry will no longer being investigating Pettigrew's escape?

perfectprefect @ 2004-05-23 10:39 pm UTC

The investigations will not erase the fact that Pettigrew was broken out of Azkaban by someone or someones. At this point it is best to resist dwelling on the past.

missgranger @ 2004-05-23 11:35 pm UTC

Of course investigations won't erase Pettigrew's escape. And I hardly think any of us are dwelling on the past - I think we are concerned for the future, which you seem to feel will be bright. Well, with Voldemort's servant and wand returned to him, he probably feels similarly bright about the future, wouldn't you say?

I would not presume to know how He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named feels, Hermione. Why are you and Harry concerned? The Ministry of Magic shall decide how this should be handled, and you would be better off to cease worrying your head about it.

missgranger @ 2004-05-24 12:55 am UTC

Well, I am completely reassured.

Hermione, Remus and I would like to see you and Harry after lessons tomorrow, if you're not busy.

missgranger @ 2004-05-24 12:55 am UTC

Of course! I hope Professor Snape won't have another assignment for me.

lupercus @ 2004-05-24 09:13 pm UTC

Not if I've anything to say about it.

Though this does not get you off the hook as far as the library is concerned, Miss Granger.

jadedsirius @ 2004-05-23 10:20 pm UTC

Do elaborate, Percy. Whose future is growing brighter from this?

perfectprefect @ 2004-05-23 10:40 pm UTC

I have no doubt that there will be great things in the future, Professor Black.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2004-05-23 10:48 pm UTC

For who? Voldemort's favourite servant walks free and people are dead. Please explain how this indicates the future will be brighter.

(parent)
perfectprefect @ 2004-05-23 11:24 pm UTC

Well, I daresay that the darkness is behind us.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2004-05-23 11:31 pm UTC

And where did you get that idea? Did I miss the conclusion to this sad story?

(parent)
perfectprefect @ 2004-05-23 11:49 pm UTC

It is clear that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, if he is still alive, has made his move already. There is no reason to believe that anything further will come of this. I am not certain why you believe that there will be more unfortunate results from this equation.

The majority of the Wizarding World would do better to look at the bright side of life. Every cloud has a silver lining.

jadedsirius @ 2004-05-24 12:27 am UTC

There's a bright side to death and torture now? I must be behind.

(parent)
lupercus @ 2004-05-24 09:09 pm UTC

THERE you are.

jadedsirius @ 2004-05-25 12:28 am UTC

I've taken Harry's laptop hostage and moved into the broom cupboard just east of Minerva's office. I love you, but you can't make me sit in the library during O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. season. You just can't.

lupercus @ 2004-05-25 07:44 am UTC

You bloody chicken. That's where I found you during our OWLs and NEWTs.

Another day of Hermione and Pansy bickering over books and I shall have to join you. Is there room in your cupboard for two?

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2004-05-25 11:50 pm UTC

The chicken is an underrated creature.

That depends; are you bringing your books?

HULLO PERCE! Alright??

perfectprefect @ 2004-05-24 11:08 pm UTC

I am adequate, Ronald. Thank you for asking.
