Unimpressed.
I strongly dislike reminders of my mortality, particularly when approached in a celebratory manner.
Minerva, I will never forgive you for the balloons and streamers in the staff room and if you try that again I will stab you with your own brooch.
Sylvia, Xiomara, the alcohol was much appreciated but would have been more meaningful without the off-key singing of that infernal song and the following attempt at the traditional punishment.
Black, if you can take time from your busy schedule of driving your own head further into your fundament, I'll ask you to remove the large musical greeting card from my office as it is extraordinarily irritating, which leads me to believe that was your exact intention. You amuse no one.
Headmaster, as I informed you weeks ago I did not need new earmuffs. However, it is supposedly the thought that counts, and so I will accept your gift graciously. I expect they will become useful in the colder months; however I do wish that they weren't pink.
Lupin.
My only solace is in the fact that I now have over three hundred and sixty days before I am forced to endure another bout of humiliation such as this.
I hate you all, goodnight.

A calling-card? Where in blazes did you acquire a calling-card?

Proper etiquette, Severus. You were out of your rooms and so I left my calling-card, to indicate to you that I had stopped by.
You did find your gift yes?

I know the function of a calling-card, Lupin.
I did find your "gift." You are hilarious, of course. Truly, I am holding my sides to keep them from splitting.
What in the name of Merlin am I to do with it?

Thanks very much. I'll be here all the week.
Keep it, Severus. It is a token of my esteem given in recognition of the day that you entered the world. I hope that you might treasure it always, perhaps as a small reminder of Remus Lupin, that most intriguing colleague of yours - and favoured chess partner, since he lets you win - from years gone by.
The gift that keeps on giving really.

Lupin.
It's a sodding paper crane.
I shall likely use it for kindling, thank you.
(And you do NOT let me win. My chess skills are far superior to yours, and you would do well to accept that and admit it.)

Of course, you are right. You are better than I at chess.
However, I believe I could kick your arse from here to Hampshire at snooker.

Really now?
Shall we test this theory? At the Hog's Head, in an hour?
