Today
The cretins the Ministry have employed as Aurors instills little confidence in me as to the outcome of the current state of worldly affairs, I have to admit. This morning Lupin, Black and I had the dubious honour of handling a fairly delicate situation involving an illegal Animagus, and the Ministry dispatched two of its most colourful representatives in the form of a small, green-haired woman and Alastor Moody. This of course did not bode well as Moody is clinically insane and I have no greater opinion of the girl, who did not look a day out of her first wand. Dumbledore could not deign to observe the proceedings, leaving us all to fend for ourselves.
Lupin and Black performed the counter-curse to release the Animagus from her serpentine form. I do not deny that it gave me great pleasure to see them struggle to break the spell, considering the youth of its original caster. Nevertheless they did break it and the subject was immediately placed into the custody of the Aurors. She did not seem interested in the usual reunion nonsense, which is all very well and good. It relieves me from the duty of long goodbyes, as I do not expect the mercy of the Wizengamot. It is not likely that my sister will again see the light of day.
I am certain Mother would have been proud.
There is tea, and scrolls to be marked. Begone.
