Current mood:enraged

Finnigan, Potter and I went to Glasgow last weekend for reasons I'm not entirely aware of, as I had nothing I particularly needed to buy. Still, I do like to grant the little people my presence every once in awhile.

Anyway, Potter is a complete buffoon when it comes to shopping. First of all, he was falling asleep for the first hour or so of the morning. Evidently he can't handle waking up at 6.00 on a Saturday. We took a carriage to Hogsmeade so we could Apparate, and I myself am surprised Potter didn't fall out of it on the way there. Actually, come to think of it, I'm surprised he didn't splinch himself when he Apparated, too. I suppose it would have been interesting to arrive in Glasgow with Finnigan and a lifeless ear.

Finnigan decided it would be best for everyone if Potter and I stood around waiting while Finnigan foamed at the mouth over vintage Playwizard magazines. He spent quite a long period of time deciding which issues to buy and finally spent all the money he had on three issues from 1975, and then proceeded to cackle with glee over the fact that he'd taken down the name of the man who was selling them so he could buy more later. I myself was deeply unimpressed.

Evidently the vintage Playwizards convinced Finnigan that Potter needed to have some sort of bachelor's lair, so that he tried to convince Potter to buy a pipe because it would look more manly. I, personally, felt that Potter ought to buy something simple, like an antique balustrade, while Finnigan pointed out animal skin rugs. We spent much of the day trying to convince Potter to make purchases, and finally he settled on a daring expense that I almost feel I shouldn't mention here. It was, of course, very risqué, and surely Potter doesn't like to boast, but for the record's sake, I feel it's my duty to tell everyone that after going through four antique shops, nine clothing shops, an accessory shop and several assorted shops besides, Potter finally settled on:

A pair of eyeglasses.

Not just any eyeglasses, no, no. If you've seen Potter this week, you'll likely not have noticed any change to his glasses. That's because he bought a pair that looked exactly like his old ones. He could have bought robes with a vicar's collar or nineteen turtleneck jumpers, but instead, he bought eyeglasses. I'm not entirely sure where Potter got such a streak of rebellion in him, but it's certainly overwhelming.

In any case, lessons have got back into the swing of things and we've had a tonne of homework this week, largely from McGonagall and Professor Vector. Today I had Potions with the Gryffindors, and as it turns out, it's Granger's birthday. I can hardly contain my excitement. After Professor Snape assigned an essay, Weasley, being the great analytical thinker that he is, proceeded to announce that since it was Granger's birthday, the Gryffindors shouldn't have to complete an essay. It's ever so tragic that Professor Snape assigned them a further six inches after that. Then again, that's probably exactly what Granger wanted for her birthday.

The Slytherin Quidditch team has try-outs this evening, in case any of the stragglers haven't realised yet. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that you ought to bring your own broom, as I'm not buying you one. I've had three second years ask me if I'd buy them a broom just to try out. Clearly they've no business even trying out when they're asking such stupid questions. Queenie Greengrass is evidently planning to try out, or else she's been practising hitting Crabbe over the head with a bat for no reason at all, which is highly probable. I've always liked doing Quidditch try-outs. I think crushing the dreams of my peers is good practice for when I become a career wizard.

There is nothing wrong with proper eyeglasses.

I have returned to the Manor. I thought you would like to know.
