Current mood: | enraged |
Despite the fact that I was not in attendance for the Hallowe'en ball, I was forced to spend hours assisting Pansy and Millicent with their costumes. Evidently they decided it would be for the best if they went as Potter and me, for reasons that I find to be completely unreasonable. In case you were wondering, what I'm trying to say there is that they seemed to have no reason whatsoever. I'd hoped, of course, that they were going to get into a giant row at the ball, but it didn't seem to be part of their plans.
Anyway, aside from the fact that Millicent was performing the atrocity of going as me without Polyjuice, she also had no intentions of doing anything about her hair, so naturally you can see where I was forced to ensure that her costume was at least somewhat realistic. Since it was going to be so hampered down by all that bulk, I thought it best that she didn't make me look like a complete idiot. Once I'd offered Millicent help, I had to assist Pansy as well, as though I was some sort of costume designer. You'd think that it wouldn't be difficult to dress up as people you see every day, but if it weren't for me, the details would have been all wrong. Of course, I've always had an eye for detail. I rather think I inherited it from My Mother.
I've come to the conclusion that my socks are never going to be returned. Father managed to get some to me despite the post burglar, and I had to borrow some from Potter as well. I nearly borrowed a pair of Pansy's, but decided not to at the last minute as they made my ankles look odd.
If you happen to be the riff-raff responsible for this theft, it's only fair to warn you that I've not stopped looking for you just because I have more socks. In fact, having more socks will only make it easier, as I won't have to stop every few metres to rub my unfairly treated feet. My Father says a theft like this cannot be borne, and you'll do well to keep that in mind.

I am glad you have finally found something to warm your feet again, darling.
potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 04:38 pm UTC |
Oh, I'm sure someone will just steal these as well. Of course, then it will be Potter's problem, not mine, and that works out rather nicely.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 07:37 pm UTC |
It's not as though I'm planning to keep them until my dying day, Potter. You'll get them back. Borrowing means taking for a brief period of time.
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 07:45 pm UTC |
Yeah, it probably means that the person knows you borrowed their socks, too. I don't know if I'm going to recover from the shock.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 07:51 pm UTC |
It's not as though you don't have any other socks. I left you that ugly one with the broomsticks on it.
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 07:55 pm UTC |
Someone gave that to me. Anyway, I have plenty of socks. It's not really the point. You could have just asked.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 08:04 pm UTC |
Yes, well, I could have asked Finnigan as well, but this was much easier.
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 08:12 pm UTC |
Seamus's socks aren't that great. I don't think he would have let you steal them from the laundry, anyway.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 08:19 pm UTC |
Oh, how lucky for me, then, that you've allowed me to with such minimal fuss.
(parent)seamus_f @ 2003-11-06 08:29 pm UTC |
OI! They are perfectly nice wool socks, thank you very much.
Honestly, a fellow tries to be nice around here . . .
potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 08:31 pm UTC |
Oh, but Potter's have broomsticks. It appears that some don't even match. That's rather hard to top.
(parent)seamus_f @ 2003-11-06 08:34 pm UTC |
You have a point there.
Did yours? Is that why they were stolen?
potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 08:39 pm UTC |
Yes, and some even had dancing cauldrons on them.
Of course not. My socks were all in solid colours.
seamus_f @ 2003-11-06 08:48 pm UTC |
D'ya reckon that Snape has dancing cauldrons on his? Because that's a Christmas gift idea right there.
And there is nothing wrong with a nice argyle.
potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 08:51 pm UTC |
I rather think Professor Snape's socks are black. Of course, if you'd like to purchase them for him, I'm certain he'd be sure to thank you. I can only imagine the joy that would come from those socks.
(parent)seamus_f @ 2003-11-06 09:12 pm UTC |
Professor Snape is not on my Christmas list, surprisingly enough. He IS, however, on the list of a good friend who is casting about for the perfect gift, so I'll be sure to suggest this to him. However, I imagine the joy would be entirely mine.
I am going to bed now and leaving you two to your own devices. I would suggest that you thank him, but I suspect that were you to do that the universe would turn in on itself, so use your own best judgment there.
potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 09:15 pm UTC |
Oh, he's not? My lord, this turns my entire world upside down.
Potter's already said 'you're welcome', which, of course, negates any need for gratitude. Besides, he just told McGonagall he would have leant them anyway. Clearly I've only saved him the trouble of having to select some.
just_harry @ 2003-11-06 08:33 pm UTC |
Well, I didn't mean they were bad socks. I don't know what I was thinking.
(parent)seamus_f @ 2003-11-06 08:40 pm UTC |
Harry, there is no need to be pouty. No serious offense taken.
Do you need to borrow some now that the Blond Wonder has taken possession of yours for the forseeable future? Because I reckon that Ron and Dean's feet are a bit larger.
just_harry @ 2003-11-06 08:49 pm UTC |
I don't really think I was being pouty. I don't need any, though. Dobby gives them to me for Christmas every year. He just took the ones that were in the clean laundry and it was only a few pairs. It's nice, though, that you wondered if I have enough socks after this. I mean, it's only considerate to make sure.
(parent)seamus_f @ 2003-11-06 08:59 pm UTC |
Thank you. I aim to please.
I'm off to bed. Have to rest up for Saturday. Always a lot of injuries when Slytherin plays; dunno why that is.
You boys play nice, now.
just_harry @ 2003-11-06 09:03 pm UTC |
Okay. Thanks, Seamus. I'll be up later. And yeah, that's weird. I can't figure out why that would be either.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:23 pm UTC |
Oh, should I stop him the next time I see him do that then??
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 09:25 pm UTC |
What? No, I mean, it's fine, he can have them. Why were you in the laundry?
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:28 pm UTC |
I was hiding from Hermione in one of those gigantic baskets in there, of course!
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:37 pm UTC |
For about two hours, yeah. Do you need socks then? You should steal from Finch-Fletchley, that one has more socks than Merlin, honestly.
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 09:40 pm UTC |
No, I have enough. I mean, Dobby gives me enough socks that I could probably wear a different pair all year. Plus I have Uncle Vernon's. I'm really excited to wear those.
What happened to you after the ball? Justin said you rolled down a hill and never came back. Why aren't you talking about it?
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:44 pm UTC |
Luna found me, it's a long story. So, er round of chess?
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:59 pm UTC |
Next Halloween I'm going as something that can fly, mark my words!
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:29 pm UTC |
Stop flattering yourself! Why the sod would I follow you?!
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 09:36 pm UTC |
Note how I said again, implying that you have done so in the past. Since you did not object to this--and, really, why would you, since we all know you've done so--you clearly aren't debating the fact that you've done so. Since you've done so in the past, you obviously had a reason at the time, which would likely be the same reason you'd do so now. Why ask why, Weasley?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 09:45 pm UTC |
You've followed me about in the past. Since you've practically admitting to doing that, why wouldn't you follow me again? Of course, it stands to reason that if you followed me in the past, there's no reason you wouldn't do so now, and if you had a reason then, you'd surely have one now. And since you have, in fact, followed me in the past, I'm sure you could find a reason to do it now.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:46 pm UTC |
What? That one time? You're still going on about it now?!
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 09:48 pm UTC |
I'm not 'going on about it.' You asked why you would follow me around. Why not, when you've done it before?
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:58 pm UTC |
That! Asking things when you bloody know the answers already!
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:02 pm UTC |
I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about. What is different?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:20 pm UTC |
Why? You said 'that was different', you then admitted that nothing was different, which was my entire point, and now you're amused that I've won the row? All right, if you insist.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:25 pm UTC |
Doing what? Speaking? It's something I do on occasion.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 09:46 pm UTC |
Oh, really? I hadn't noticed, what with the overuse of question marks.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:53 pm UTC |
Well another question then! Do you want to play chess?
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 09:56 pm UTC |
Harry and I are going to play chess now, are you coming or not?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 09:58 pm UTC |
Why? Somehow, I don't think your game will fail without a third player, as chess is a two-player game.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 10:00 pm UTC |
We can take turns! You've never played multi-player chess before??
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 10:08 pm UTC |
Hah! Oh we shall see about that! Meet us in the common room.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:10 pm UTC |
If you think I'm coming to Gryffindor Tower and sitting in front of the fire for a game of chess, you've got quite another thing coming.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:19 pm UTC |
Hardly. I just don't happen to enjoy your company, like most of the population.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 10:21 pm UTC |
It's not like I want you around anyway, we're not playing alone, Harry's going to be there too, you know.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:30 pm UTC |
Let's See Who Can Stop Breathing the Longest. You go first.
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 10:21 pm UTC |
Never mind. I don't think Malfoy's going to come to the common room. It's just this weird feeling I have.
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 10:25 pm UTC |
I don't think he wants to play. You could still play with me, unless you'll miss Draco too much.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:32 pm UTC |
I said perish the thought.
If I play, I expect an award for special services to the school.
potterstinks @ 2003-11-06 10:34 pm UTC |
Fine, I'll play. But I'm not playing in your stupid common room. Unless you go to the library, you'll be missing out on the wonder of my presence.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-06 10:37 pm UTC |
I'M NOT SPEAKING TO YOU ANYMORE, HARRY YOU DEAL WITH HIM
(parent)just_harry @ 2003-11-06 10:40 pm UTC |
I will. But we should probably go to the library before he defaces our pictures.
