Current mood: | enraged |
I don't see why everyone in this castle is so extraordinarily sensitive. You'd think someone had been passing out oestrogen in potion form lately. Some people seem ready to fly off the handle at any given moment, as though it's everyone else's fault they're so fickle. I, for one, am quite tired of such people taking their fits out on the rest of us.
Take, for example, Macmillan acting as though the entire castle is at fault for Weasley's little poll. I certainly don't care about his personal life, and I especially don't care about Granger's, but he seems to think the entire castle does, in fact, care quite deeply. Never mind the fact that we've all made it clear that he's got the wrong impression. No, no. He's decided that we do and since, of course, no one can be correct but him, it all makes perfect sense in his minuscule brain. Evidently he thinks he's some sort of martyr, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Have you ever noticed he acts as though you're offending him simply by being? As if you've caused him to suffer endlessly because you aren't acting like he'd rather.
It's ever so convincing, the way he pretends that he's just fine with the way you are, but of course, since you aren't an idiot, you can easily see that he's trying to change you to make himself feel better. Everything's quite, 'Oh, why do you do these things?', when of course prior to that it was always, 'Oh, of course I don't think you're someone you're not'. But, naturally, if he didn't think you were someone else, he wouldn't be surprised when you do 'these things', now would he? Personally, I don't need someone who would prefer to change all the parts of me that they don't like, as I like them just fine. In fact, I enjoy the way I am far more than I like the way anyone else is, so I happen to think everyone ought to change to suit me.
He's always bringing out the same arguments from TEN MONTHS AGO, making it quite clear that he doesn't believe a word I say, so why bother? Regardless of how many times I say one thing, he always believes what he wants to believe, so I think I'll just lie all the time from now on, as that would certainly be easier than anything else. Since I'm apparently such a 'prick', it shouldn't matter, now should it? Of course, it's not as though I've ever acted any other way, so I don't quite see the point in saying as much. Perhaps people are surprised to find that I do, in fact, stay quite the same person for years. How shocking.
In any case, I'll be passing on the oestrogen trend, so I shall be spending the majority of my time with oestrogen-free Millicent. When everyone else stops acting like imbeciles, perhaps I'll move to Hufflepuff, as that's about as likely.

You warm my ovaries.
I had no idea you had such a history with Ernie Macmillan.

Oh, so I can practise juggling? How very thoughtful of you.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 04:55 am UTC |
Just because I don't want your ovaries, it doesn't mean I'm in any particular mood at the moment, now does it?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 05:00 am UTC |
I'll thank you to go distract yourself with some food.
(parent)petitemillicent @ 2004-03-25 05:03 am UTC |
I thought you were going to spend time with me.
Was it all a lie?
M. B.
potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 05:13 am UTC |
Why do you think I want food as constantly as you do? Lord, you would be the worst mother ever. 'Mummy, I've just had my hand ripped off by a hippogriff.' 'That is all right. We will put a pie on the stump.'
(parent)petitemillicent @ 2004-03-25 05:14 am UTC |
I did not mean to get pie crumbs in your hippogriff wound.
Let it go.
M. B.
potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 05:28 am UTC |
It is not. You're just trying to trick me into going to the common room so you can sit on me or something equally sadistic. No thank you. Go away.
(parent)petitemillicent @ 2004-03-25 05:35 am UTC |
I will just assume your silence means you are on your way.

One more comment and you'll find yourself missing an ear.
(parent)turpinol @ 2004-03-26 07:16 am UTC |
You can't call someone sensitive for reacting to sexism.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 06:12 am UTC |
Wow. Okay. So you've been waiting this whole time to say something? You know, I thought the conversation was over last week.
WHEN DID I SAY YOU SHOULD BE SOMEONE ELSE? EVER?
potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 06:16 am UTC |
Oh, I don't know where I could've got that idea. Perhaps when you got sulky because I put a charm on Weasley's chair.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 06:19 am UTC |
You forgot the part where you called Hermione a mudblood.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 06:23 am UTC |
I can see how that would be important. Since, as we all know, I've never called her a Mudblood before. I can imagine why you would be so terribly surprised. What ever was I thinking, pulling out a great shock like that unexpectedly?
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 06:26 am UTC |
Oh! Well! You've said it before! Then I guess I should have laughed and told you it was really funny!
You know, you haven't called her that in a really long time. It's not like I thought it was cool before either.
potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 06:30 am UTC |
Are you making a note of every time I call someone a Mudblood now? You're the one who went on and on about how you didn't think I was someone else, but evidently you did if you find it shocking that I'd call Granger a Mudblood.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 06:38 am UTC |
Yes, I'm always doing such nice things for Granger. I can see how you'd think that was what I was doing. Only not, as I utilise logic.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 06:41 am UTC |
I THOUGHT YOU WERE DOING IT BECAUSE OF ME. SORRY I WAS SO STUPID.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 06:49 am UTC |
Perhaps for the same reason you thought I would start acting like another person if you waited long enough. Ever so sorry to disappoint, etc.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 06:53 am UTC |
'He's always bringing out the same arguments from TEN MONTHS AGO, making it quite clear that he doesn't believe a word I say, so why bother? Regardless of how many times I say one thing, he always believes what he wants to believe, so I think I'll just lie all the time from now on, as that would certainly be easier than anything else.'
Are you talking about yourself there or what?
potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 06:55 am UTC |
YES, POTTER, THAT'S RIGHT. I ALWAYS SAY 'HE' WHEN I'M REFERRING TO MYSELF. IT'S THE NEW 'WE', DIDN'T YOU KNOW?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 07:00 am UTC |
No, it really wouldn't. You're the one who always resorts to bringing up the same things. 'Why, why, why?' Never mind how many times I answer, you keep asking as though anything I say isn't satisfactory. Why should I bother with it at all?
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 07:14 am UTC |
Yes you are!! You're the one who hears everything you want to hear! You just decide what you think and then THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS! BECAUSE YOU THINK SO! Even if I say it's not YOU KEEP SAYING IT IS! You're the one who keeps saying I want you to be someone else even though I TOLD YOU BEFORE I didn't!
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 07:17 am UTC |
I WOULDN'T KEEP SAYING IT IF YOU WEREN'T WRONG. YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T EXPECT ME TO KEEP CALLING GRANGER A MUDBLOOD AND NOW THAT I'VE DONE SO YOU'RE SURPRISED BECAUSE YOU EXPECTED ME TO DO SOMETHING ELSE. THEREFORE, YOU EXPECTED ME TO BE SOMEONE ELSE, WHICH IS CLEARLY THE SOMEONE ELSE YOU WOULD HAVE PREFERRED ME TO BE.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 07:20 am UTC |
I KNEW YOU CALLED HER THAT A LONG TIME AGO! WHY WOULD I BE SURPRISED NOW?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 07:25 am UTC |
Well, you tell me, Potter, since you're the one who threw a fit about it.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 07:34 am UTC |
Yes, you just told me that you assumed I would have stopped doing so for you. As though you expected me to stop doing something for you, which, by the way, is exactly the same as expecting me to change in some way for you. Since you expected this, it would imply that you were surprised when it didn't turn out to be true. And if you were surprised that I hadn't come to love Granger because of you, it would imply that you expected I would do something like becoming a different person and that you were surprised to find out that I wasn't. As I said, I am right.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 07:38 am UTC |
That doesn't even make sense. Just because I knew you did it doesn't mean I'm going to suddenly like it now.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 07:43 am UTC |
Because Hermione is my friend! Why would I? I can't believe you're actually confused. And when did I bring this up ten months ago?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 07:46 am UTC |
Oh, so it's just Granger, then? Well, in that case.
MUDBLOOD, MUDBLOOD, MUDBLOOD.
potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 07:55 am UTC |
Oh, so then, you thought I was a more mature person, too, I take it.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:04 am UTC |
Yeah, sure. What am I bringing up from ten months ago? I'm kind of stupid, see.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:07 am UTC |
Oh, I really don't think you want me to clarify that here.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:09 am UTC |
No. You're the person who posted to the journals about it. You can't decide not to talk about it here anymore.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:13 am UTC |
'WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS, MALFOY? WHY? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.'
'BECAUSE ETC.'
'NO, THAT ISN'T ENOUGH REASON FOR ME.'
'WELL, HERE IS A TEN MINUTE MONOLOGUE ANSWERING YOU.'
'WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS, MALFOY? WHY? SURELY YOU DON'T MEAN A WORD OF WHAT YOU JUST SAID AND IT WAS ONLY A TIME-FILLER.'
just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:17 am UTC |
YOU ALWAYS SAY BECAUSE IT'S ME! THAT'S IT! THEN YOU CALL ME STUPID AND ACT LIKE YOU HATE ME. SO WHY SHOULD I THINK THAT'S YOUR REAL ANSWER?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:20 am UTC |
WELL, I'M TERRIBLY SORRY THAT ISN'T A GOOD ENOUGH ANSWER FOR YOU. I THOUGHT IT WAS QUITE EFFICIENT.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:24 am UTC |
WELL! SORRY THAT I WONDER! SORRY THAT I JUST THINK IT'S WEIRD THAT YOU WOULD! I DON'T KNOW WHY I'D THINK THAT, SINCE ALL YOU DO IS ACT LIKE YOU HATE ME AND ALL. SORRY FOR GETTING THE RIGHT IMPRESSION THERE!
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:30 am UTC |
I guess that's what I've been asking, but if you're asking it too then that's really an answer on it's own.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:47 am UTC |
Well, Granger's in agreement with you, so have fun arguing with her instead.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:50 am UTC |
YOU SOUND LIKE YOU'RE ANGRY THAT I'D ARGUE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. ARE YOU HAVING FUN?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:53 am UTC |
No, actually, I'm just pointing out that your friend has come around to mention how pointless this all is, and since you're so noble in your efforts to defend Granger, clearly she must be correct.
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:56 am UTC |
If I agreed with Hermione why would I even be sitting here at the computer anymore?
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:58 am UTC |
Given that you seem to be under the impression that you can convince me that I'm wrong, which is ridiculous, evidently it's because you're aiming to prove yourself right.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 09:10 am UTC |
One rarely does. I'm going to go sleep, pointlessly, in my pointless bed, so I can avoid this pointless conversation.
(parent)missgranger @ 2004-03-25 08:23 am UTC |
Harry, you do know there's no point arguing with him.
(parent)missgranger @ 2004-03-25 08:30 am UTC |
I'm sorry, but I really think you should just give it up, or at least leave me out of it. I don't care what he calls me, and it's best to ignore attention-seekers anyway.
(parent)missgranger @ 2004-03-25 08:36 am UTC |
Excuse me? What's Ernie ever done to you? Anyway, Ron's already messed things up enough!
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:38 am UTC |
You're supposed to ignore attention seekers, aren't you? It's that easy, if I'm supposed to just ignore Malfoy. And Ron didn't mess anything up just because Ernie started yelling about not being able to work with you, if he hadn't said that you'd still be studying together.
(parent)missgranger @ 2004-03-25 08:43 am UTC |
Ernie is not an attention-seeker! Malfoy purposefully picks on people, for no reason, Ernie's not like that at all! Honestly! It just frustrates me that you and Malfoy are just capsing at each other and not actually talking any of it out at all!
(parent)just_harry @ 2004-03-25 08:46 am UTC |
I guess you just forgot about when Ernie and Justin called me queer. AND POSTED FISH. I'm sorry that Malfoy and I are frustrating you because I didn't realise I should just IGNORE him.
(parent)missgranger @ 2004-03-25 08:48 am UTC |
Well, all right, Harry, if this pointlessness is making you happy, then by all means!
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2004-03-25 08:40 am UTC |
SHUT UP ABOUT IT ALREADY, AND DON'T DRAG ME INTO THIS!
(parent)missgranger @ 2004-03-25 08:46 am UTC |
Well, now you're making it sound like I'm babbling on and on about it or something.
(parent)potterstinks @ 2004-03-25 08:33 am UTC |
Telling me that actually requires speaking to me, but frankly, I don't particularly care about you, so you needn't answer me.
(parent)petitemillicent @ 2004-03-25 08:06 am UTC |
Does this mean you were not talking about Macmillan?
I am shocked.
