Current mood:enraged

Well. Draco's opportunity to prove himself as a Malfoy has come and gone. The little blighter overslept, although I find his explanation rather spurious. He says he was attending to prefect duties, but he's performed much more complex tasks on no sleep, so I am disinclined to accept his line of reasoning. And, in his cockiness, he chose a painting as his second (not to mention a quite plebian rendering) and, as Draco was nowhere to be found, his second had to step in. Cadogan was quickly vanquished by the judicial application of paint thinner and so Draco lost the duel by default. Narcissa and I were left, humiliated, on the castle grounds. Needless to say, we did not go to Hogsmeade.

Unacceptable. I finally located him in the castle and I believe I conveyed the depth of my displeasure adequately.

I have therefore decided that if he does not wish to behave like a Malfoy, he should not be treated like a Malfoy. Let him experience life as the teeming masses do. He will receive no owls from home, no supplies, and no allowance. His mother is forbidden to contact him. She protested quite vociferously, but I stood firm. She has coddled him for far too long and now the results are clear. Draco has no sense of responsibility. Come summer, I plan to enroll him in an outdoor leadership program. I am researching military wizarding schools for next year. He obviously needs to learn discipline and time management, and, I confess, I have been unsuccessful in allowing Draco to learn from my example.

This will not happen again. Draco will learn to become a Malfoy, or he will no longer be a Malfoy. He has disappointed me for the last time.

I suppose this is your idea of "tough love," Malfoy?

(Though, the "love" aspect may be a bit suspect.)

All this fuss because Draco did not win my hand in the duel?

This matter has nothing to do with failing to win your hand, Miss Bulstrode. I do wish you and Mr. Thomas many happy returns, however.

Re:

Boot, Mr Malfoy.

Not Thomas.

And no.

What is the problem then.

Re:

Mr. Thomas won the first duel by default. Therefore, he's the lucky man to have won your hand.

As for the problem, I fail to see how it is any of your business. It is a private family matter.
