Alas! While the rest of the school was permitted to attend a festival on the grounds, I, like a good portrait, was left to keep guard. I do not much mind, but I do wish that I had been able to see the fireworks.

I myself was made privvy to a dreadful evening. American Gothic came over for tea. He is the most boring member of a portrait alive. Always polishing that pitchfork, nodding here and there, saying, "Yep, yep." So uncouth!

She, on the other hand, has always acted very bitterly towards me. She wishes they had become a Hogwarts painting. And she's always calling me "Ms. Lady"! In that horrid southern accent. I feel like I've fallen into Louisiana. And she wonders why she was not ever moved to Hogwarts!

"So, Ms. Lady," she would say, "do you like it here at Hogwarts?"

She knows, of course, that becoming a password-portrait at Hogwarts is the most respectable position a portrait can earn. If she was trying to make me feel sorry for her, she succeeded. The poor dear. I would be terribly bored if I was stuck with him all of my life!

Still, you would think she would be satisfied that she was being reprinted all over the world. But, no. Every time a student came back to the Tower for something they had forgotten, she very nearly burst into tears at the sight of them. And what did he say? "Yep, yep."

They're such a miserable portrait! But, still, better company than Lisa, I have to say. At least they do not call me "Fat."

I think I'll take a little nap now, if everyone has turned in for the evening. I do get awfully tired all day, and no one has touched up the bags beneath my eyes in years.
