Remus came over for a cup of tea last night and a bit of a chat, he showed up not long after I'd gotten home from work, little Ginny with me. He came with scones and I put the kettle on because I can actually make a half-decent cup of tea, though that's about it. We sat around in the kitchen and talked, about a lot of things, and I think the kids knew I'd be speaking about their mother because they didn't come join us at all. I suppose I speak about their mother enough lately, they're probably sick of hearing it. It seems Remus could speak from my wife's perspective, in a ways. Though I didn't do anything, and his other half actually did. I didn't. Do. Anything. I can see now how Molly might have thought so, I can see why she was maybe thinking what she was, or what she is thinking, but I can't say enough that at the time, it all went right over my head. I won't mention Miss Parkinson's name again.
It was a good chat, even if the old shoulders were shaking slightly at one stage. I apologise for being how I was, Remus, it's no state for someone my age to be in, someone supporting a family, and all of that. Anyway, Lupin left not long before 8pm, and I sat in the kitchen by myself until my cup of tea was stone cold. Ginny made me another, and Ronald half-shrugged his shoulders. I think maybe they've given up on me. I'd never thought I'd see the day where Molly would give up on me before I did myself, but I'm almost there now anyway so what does it really matter? I suppose that's not the point.
Lupin showed up again somewhere near eleven, maybe twelve. He unexpectedly popped into the kitchen again, which was a little startling, as I was still at the table with my second cup of cold tea. He blurted out something about Harry, and after I'd tried to make him sit and calm down three times, I finally got out that he was looking for Harry and thought he'd be here, at the Burrow. He was jumping around a lot, he wouldn't sit, he wouldn't stop, and he also blurted out a few things I think he'd been holding back earlier. He's right, I shouldn't be such a coward.
So I'm up early to owl Lupin and ask after Harry, and then I'm heading down to the shed to speak to my wife, who I love so much that it hurts, quite a lot.

Uh actually you can, I need Floo powder. ANSWER MY QUESTION DAD
What if I went alone and Gin stays?

Have you thought about how your mother would react to me going out to the shed and instead of telling her all I was planning to tell her and trying in vain again to get to her to come back inside, instead, Ronald, instead telling her that her child or children has or have gone off by themselves to Betsy knows where to look for Harry who's gone missing and nobody knows where he is and I just said, "sure, children, scamper off and get lost in the big bad world", because that's what your mother always thinks you're going to do, she worries about you lot twenty-four seven and she's probably just waiting for you two to go down to the shed and beg her back in and tell her what a terrible parenting job I'm doing all on my own, and you've got every right to, you know, because I am, and I can't do this without her, and I'll bet you a knut or two that she knows that already, it's funny she's still in the shed and not off somewhere exotic with someone a lot younger and handsomer than myself that could give her a lot more, because she's the most wonderful woman in the world and deserves a lot more, anyway, why is she staying in the shed!? I'm going to pour myself another cup of tea now and I'll bet it'll get bloody cold as well.

Thumbs up, son. I'll drink it before I go down there. Please make me drink it before it gets cold.
(parent)wehaveseven @ 2003-08-20 01:04 pm UTC |
Lupin told me I should stop being a coward. I'll be right.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-08-20 01:05 pm UTC |
Well then stop blowing at your tea, it's not that hot!
(parent)wehaveseven @ 2003-08-20 01:15 pm UTC |
Tea downed. Hold the fort, son. And cross all your toes.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-08-20 01:17 pm UTC |
Still here, dad! Will wait for you and mum here!! Good luck!

Ronald, I shall Apparate to The Burrow post haste.
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-08-20 10:31 pm UTC |
Perce!!! Hurry! It's been hours and they're still in there!!! Can you cook?
(parent)perfectprefect @ 2003-08-20 10:36 pm UTC |
Well, I have been told that my culinary talents could use some shaping, but I am certain that this was only said to ensure that my head did not get oversized. I believe I should have no trouble cooking at all! Surely it cannot be all that difficult. Do you know where Mother keeps the sherry?
(parent)knight_to_h3 @ 2003-08-20 10:38 pm UTC |
Cooking's pretty fun! Maybe we can cook something for them. Accio mum's sherry?
(parent)perfectprefect @ 2003-08-20 10:43 pm UTC |
Splendid! I am preparing to Apparate now. I shall be there immediately.

(parent)wehaveseven @ 2003-08-20 11:33 pm UTC |

perfectprefect @ 2003-08-20 11:53 pm UTC |
Why do you all persist in calling me Percival? It has never been my name, though of course I would not mind terribly. Even Mother calls me Percival. I am not entirely certain what you are all trying to say.
I have not seen Harry, of course; I would certainly inform you if I had in fact seen him. Though I doubt, reasonably, that he would turn up at the Ministry of Magic! Miss Clearwater has not seen Harry either as far as I am aware.
