Based on something Professor Snape said to me in potions this morning, I'm starting to wonder about something, about what his real purpose could be for piling on all this extra work for me.

Maybe . . . maybe what he's actually trying to teach me really doesn't have anything to do with potions at all???

I'm not quite sure. It's really hard to explain. He's always been . . . well, you know. But this time it occurred to me it felt more like he was testing me. Or baiting me? Not just running me down like he always does, but deliberately trying to get me to get mad.

Didn't it seem like that to you?

Oh, I forgot. You were cutting up the lizard hearts when it happened. He said something about that exam that he's going to give me, going on and on about how it was going to be so much harder than everyone else's. I didn't say anything, because McGonagall still hasn't answered my post about it, so I just kept measuring out the crushed scarab wings.

And then he leaned down and said, real low in my ear, "Aren't you angry yet, Longbottom?"
