Current mood: worried

I don't know what to think about this.

Work was over, and Sara and I were headed toward the bus stop, talking, when a car pulled over, and the fellow driving opened his window and called out, 'Sara? Can I give you a lift home?'

She looked over, and her eyes got sort of big, and she went over to talk to him. I was watching this, frowning, and then I heard a voice behind me say in disgust, 'Oh, look who's back. Mr. Wonderful.'

I turned around. It was Guy, another chap on our work crew. 'Who is he?' I asked, and added reluctantly, without even meaning to, 'He's really handsome.' He was, too, from what I could see. Star quidditch player looks, that sort of thing.

'Yeah, and he knows it, too,' Guy said, scowling. 'He's Sara's old boyfriend. Goes to Eton. Worked here last summer, which is where they met; wrote to each other all last year, until last Easter, and then he broke it off. Bit of a cad, really.'

'She's never mentioned him,' I said, stupidly, thunderstruck.

'She's been trying to get over him.'

Sara looked over her shoulder, a little apologetically, and called out to me, 'I'll see you tomorrow, Neville?' And then she hopped into the car, and they were gone, just like that, leaving Guy and me standing there in the exhaust.

'So maybe she's not over him yet.' Guy said, and he clapped me on the shoulder. 'Rum luck, mate. I always thought you were nicer to her than he ever was.' He headed off to the parking lot, leaving me to trudge on to the bus stop.

Alone.

Listen, darling, I always say that just because a person is dating someone, it doesn't necessarily mean they're off limits. Unless you're the someone. By "you" I mean me, of course. Remember that. All you need is a little confidence. Just close your eyes and imagine what you want. It's only a matter of time.

Give it a try, darling. Just use your imagination and picture your dream exactly the way it will be.
