Mood: amused

*laughs*

Oh my. Isn't this interesting. Not only is there a community for people pretending to be Hogwartians, but there is also a community that is acting as a fandom to it. *is amused* I find it interesting, however, that Muggles have created a Hogwarts so different from the one in reality. Honestly, H/D? Cute as it is in Nocturne_Alley, I don't ever see it happening in real life. And why is everyone gay at Hogwarts? (well, almost everyone...) I'm certain there are some gay people at Hogwarts, but not THAT many. And since when is Sirius Black a professor?

Anyway, 'tis an interesting community, and makes for a very amusing read. (Although I showed it to Draco and he was considerably less pleased.... Hehe.) I do believe I shall follow it from now on.

PS--Who is this Mandy Brocklehurst of whom you speak? And...Soblessa? I don't know them. Oh...are they original characters? Interesting, that.

shusu @ April 30 2003, 05:52:52 UTC

Miss Brocklehurst is canon, I believe.

(parent)

jgoreham @ April 30 2003, 06:02:55 UTC

She is, but I'm not sure about Soblessa, actually; and I'm stuck here in the city with my Harry Potter books all at my parent's house in the country =/

(parent)

cirakaite @ April 30 2003, 06:06:37 UTC

Soblessa is, IIRC, an original character. I'm not totally sure, but I don't think that any girls from Colin/Ginny's year are actually named in canon.

(parent)

jlh @ April 30 2003, 07:43:33 UTC

They aren't.

Most of the minor characters we have in canon are from Harry overhearing the sorting hat. In CoS, of course, Harry and Ron miss the ceremony entirely. Therefore, we don't have any canon characters in Ginny/Colin's year except the ones who actually interact with Harry--Colin, because he's just that pushy, and Ginny for obvious reasons.

In fact, most Ginnyfic has to create a few OCs for her to room with and be friends with. So NA really isn't unusual in doing that. However, you'll note that Soblessa doesn't have a journal.

(parent)

zorb @ April 30 2003, 07:58:38 UTC

In fact, most Ginnyfic has to create a few OCs for her to room with and be friends with.

Unless it's one of those "Ginny got moved up a year because she was sooooo smart!!!!11!" fics, in which case, it generally sucks (I have yet to see a good one). OCs in Ginny's year are infinitely preferable to making her bestest buddies with the Trio out of the blue.

Hmmm, actually, I take it back. Neither of them are listed in the Harry Potter Lexicon, which as far as I'm concerned, is the next closest thing to actually re-reading Harry Potter... unless I can't read or something. But I don't see either of them listed =^^=;; And I don't know if I dare say the Lexicon is wrong, because if it isn't, then I'll probably get beat up...

Slightly off topic, but this is neat... http://www.i2k.com/~svderark/lexicon/hogwarts_students.html#Gryffindor%20girls

Mandy Brocklehurst is Canon. From PS (don't know what version, it's a text version I use soley to look stuff up):

"Brocklehurst, Mandy" went to Ravenclaw too, but "Brown, Lavender"
became the first new Gryffindor, and the table on the far left exploded
with cheers; Harry could see Ron's twin brothers catcalling.

(parent)

notapipe @ April 30 2003, 06:33:53 UTC

Other Canon names that no one pays attention to:

There weren't many people left now. "Moon" "Nott" "Parkinson" then a
pair of twin girls, "Patil" and "Patil" then "Perks, Sally-Anne" and
then, at last -- "Potter, Harry!"

And, MacDougal, Morag whom I didn't know existed until I read Underwater Light.

No, see, Aurora goes to Hogwarts. Kyrlllie (or whatever name that sounds like it belongs to a race of birds) is the Gorblagger. They're different people who share one LJ!

Utah, usually. Though I think she's some secret government vat grown killer clone, since she's from Maryland (mbhs.edu is a Maryland high school).

(parent)

masincla @ April 30 2003, 16:14:30 UTC

"Secret government vat grown killer clone" isn't too far off, actually.

I go to school there, too. :-)

(parent)

ungemmed @ April 30 2003, 17:15:07 UTC

As do I. And we magnets are not clones. Government vat-grown mutants, possibly, but I refuse to be considered a clone of certain people. (Such as the president of the Student Republican Club, who believes that AIDS victims should be castrated.)

(parent)

masincla @ April 30 2003, 17:31:26 UTC >:O

Not clones, of course - but he wants them castrated?

(parent)

ungemmed @ April 30 2003, 18:18:12 UTC Re: >:O

Yes. All STD carriers must be castrated in order to not corrupt the Holy Rite of Sex that Must Have No Purpose other than conception... apparently. That was a rather distasteful conversation and I have mindblocked much of it. (It started with him blathering in Anal-algs one day about founding SAGA-the Straight Against Gay Alliance. This says it all.)

(parent)

masincla @ April 30 2003, 18:21:44 UTC Re: >:O

How disgusting. If I didn't take the Republican Club seriously before, I sure don't now.

Well, to that I say, "HA! (parent)

aurorasinger @ May 4 2003, 16:42:20 UTC Re: carry on, maggot.

...Okay, you OBVIOUSLY didn't read the thread.

I said that because Connie said that Magnets were gov't cloned drones or something to that effect. It was a joke. Hey, at least being a Magnet has one perk.

(parent)

weirdrockygrrl @ May 4 2003, 18:54:36 UTC Re: carry on, maggot.

Hey, you know that feeling, when you know you're being an idiot, but you say something stupid anyway? Do you live in that feeling?

I mean, because then I'd understand, because that must be your one - and only - Magnet perk.

p.s. I did read the thread. Don't assume anything about what I have or have not done. And don't even dare to put it in caps.

p.s.s. Your jokes suck.
