Serve Up Some Charity!

Serve Up Some Charity!

Show your nraged pride, and your love for nocturne_alley, while doing a good thing for a good cause.

I don't just mean getting everyone's favorite wolf lupercus that cake server he's been after so long. I'm talking about another NA - NasAlley.org, our own Harry Potter fandom charity drive. Before long, NasAlley will be donating the final amount of donations it's received from the fandom to Comic Relief, where the money will help the poor and needy throughout the world.

It's only appropriate that we here at NrAged tip our hats to Comic Relief - how many laughs does Nocturne Alley bring us daily, after all?

So, here's the project. We all know how much Remus fancies that cake server at Nieman Marcus, right? Well, it doesn't look like anyone else is getting it for him, the poor bloke (or, should I say, poor gal? :D).

There are 280 members of nraged. The cake server costs $395 (US). If each one of us contributes even $2 to NasAlley, we'll have more than "bought" the cake server for lupercus - and contributed in the name of fandom and NA to a wonderful cause! And if each of us donates just $5 - a small amount compared to all the joy we get from NA and NrAged - we'll have over $1000! I can think of no better way to honor the brilliant players of Nocturne Alley, or to show our pride in our fandom.

Here's how it works:
Just go to NasAlley.org's donations page to make your donation before May 10 - the wedding date. Unless you have funds already in a special PayPal account, choose option two - credit card payment.

WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR DONATION, MAKE SURE TO WRITE "NA Cake Server" IN THE MEMO FIELD!!

Spread the word - feel free to use the banner and icons below, or to make your own!

(Thanks to altricial for the NasAlley side of things, and to katrionaa, shusu, and anjaliesque for the original brainstorm for this idea. And to the players and community of nocturne and nraged!)

Here's the code for the banner - it links back to this post. Just replace every [ with a < and every ] with a > .

FANTASTIC.

I'm going to have to send my donation by old-fashioned snail mail, but it'll be clearly labeled "NA Cake Server," never fear. Thank you for organizing this!! It's fabulous having a way to really how how much we care.

I solemnly swear not to enchant the cake server to play 80s music.

And here I was all hoping it'd be enchanted to play Billy Idol "White Wedding."

If we use the postal address, can we send cash instead of a cheque? If we take the proper precautions, that is...

Feel free :D

What are the "proper precautions"? *would also like to send cash*

This is a very cool idea.

Proper precautions would be wrapping the cash in paper so you can't see it through the envelope... making sure the envelope is securely sealed. Basically, you just don't want anyone to think you're sending anything besides a letter.

(Okay - that sounds like I'm working a criminal operation. "Don't let anyone know" XD)

Umm... Would have been nice to get a note about this, though it's wonderful that its been done. I'd have set up some functionality on the site to relate to the Nraged effort - announcements, banners, links, a different PayPal option, etc. but I can't do that right now.

Will post about it in the NasAlley Journal.

Thanks again!

And isn't it sad that this is my first participation in the Nraged (or indeed any NA) forum?

Sorry, Greg! Anna and I talked about it, and we decided that we didn't *need* the extra stuff from NasAlley - and that nobody at NasA really had the time to code a bunch of stuff for it (you and she were both uber uber busy during the time between the idea and the implementation). It's OK to just have folks list NrAged in the memo field, I think, anyway - a special button would have been icing. Since the current banner links back to this post, folks ought to be able to get all the info they need.
You do tons and tons of work as it is! I didn't want to ask you to stay up all night coding for NasA again :)

And... welcome to the crazy world that is NrAged!

Thanks for setting it up - donations have already started. The option thing doesn't matter so much, as the donations keep for a month, so at this stage we can just store them in the non card based account and then upgrade it and accept them just before we make the actual donation to CR.

Thanks from NASA (*loves*)
