We know that Harry has to go back once a year; but we don't know for how long. He stayed a month with the Weasleys in CoS. I bet we won't be hearing from Harry during the time he's with The Muggles; I can't see him letting him use their computer (I think The Little Whale owns one), so we might have to hear everything second-hand through Hermione, Ron, and Sirius and Remus.

However, if Draco felt like being very evil and could stand the thought of being around Muggles, he could visit Harry at #4. On the other hand, I think that might be asking for Harry to get locked in his room.

I feel for Remus, all three of them were looking forward to being together; working on being a family. And this has to happen. Maybe Dumbledore will allow him to spend some of his Holiday with his family.

I'm crushed.

It may depend on how protected Dogear Wryde is. Oh gods, what a horrible time for this.

Harry's parents would go without sleep for as many days as it took to get those wards strong enough for Harry to come back to them.

I always got the impression that Dogear Wryde is isolated from people (Wizards and Muggles alike) but I wonder if it wasn't surrounded by good wards and housed some more company (say, 9 Weasleys and one very angry Dragon), if Dumbledore wouldn't let Harry come for a visit.

If NA is taking this part from canon (which they seem to be, otherwise he should be able to go to DW), then it's all about the blood pact thing with Petunia that protects him. Now, since he was able to go to Grimmauld Place (in OOTP), theoretically he should be able to go to DW if the same precautions/protections are taken.

Either that, or he'd have to get Petunia to visit DW with him. o_O

I was thinking about that the entire time I wa writing that post but I didn't know how many people haven't read OotP and I wanted to avoid spoiling it.

Is it safe to assume that most people have read it by now?

We knew he would have to go back to Privet Drive. That part was planned out all along, based on the end of GoF. But we were hoping that Book 5 would tell us why, and luckily, it did. If it had not, we would have just said that the wards were not strong enough at Dogear in light of this attack.

And from my understanding of the family blood thing-- he just has to be able to call Privet Drive home. He doesn't need Petunia to escort him places in order to be safe, but instead, just needs to be able to truly say that he lives under a roof with her, or with Dudley, or with anyone of Lily's bloodline, I think. All off-topic interpretation, of course, and not currently an NA issue. But fascinating conversation anyway.

I'm sure many of us saw this coming but weren't sure if NA would use it or not . Maybe it was wishful thinking that they wouldn't, allowing Harry to spend his Holiday with his heart's family who love him and not his blood family who want him out of their lives. Feelings won out over logic and facts this time.

Yes, being with the Muggles keeps his mother's protection strong but Harry pays a very high price.

I feel a little better knowing that Harry will have a laptop (here's to hoping the Little Whale doesn't steal it) and Sirius will being playing the "I was accused of killing 13 people" card to keep The Muggles in line, but no one wanted Harry to go back and now there will be two months of wondering if he's really ok or if he's just saying that to keep people happy.

Well, Sirius posted and I don't think that man's heart can be broken anymore than it already is.

Harry has to stay with The Muggles for his ENTIRE Holiday. Sirius (and Remus I'm sure will be there too) will be escorting him back home, armed with a new laptop, for a Little Chat with the Large Whale.

I hope Padfoot pisses on said whale for good measure.
