(no title)
Mood: amused

lupin posts.

snape posts.

i burst out laughing. tonks! yemen!

trying to find the thingy behind snape's subject title now. it sounds familiar.

ya: it's by benjamin franklin. strange source for our dear potions master, but it probably fits with whatever he's doing. whatever it is.

yo: and, apparently, cho's on drugs. legal drugs, mind you. ye: this is a better article. it also says that whiskey's illegal there, which explains the no alcohol thing, which i find a tad strange.

Obviously NA is not taking into account several of the events that took place in OotP but since Remus refers to Tonks as an "in-law", does that mean that they are going along with Sirius' family tree?

If so, since Narcissa is Sirius' first cousin and Remus' great aunt is also Narcissa's grandmother, doesn't that make Sirius and Remus related?

It's a bit complicated, but since Narcissa has already established her own lineage in NA (as a Peltier, instead of a Black), Sirius and Narcissa are not related, just as Sirius's mother, in NA canon, is not the heinous old hag that she is in OotP, as we've already established that she was rather pleasant.

However, other aspects of Sirius's background can be used in Nocturne Alley as it hasn't yet been discussed or mentioned.

Therefore, Sirius and Tonks can be related, and Sirius and the Lestranges can be related, but Sirius and Narcissa cannot because we've already brought up Narcissa's family tree. That's why the connection is instead through Lupin, whose family history can be tampered with a lot more freely.

Just remember that NA is essentially AU at this point, and not everything you'll find in canon is going to be found in the RPG. Just the bits we liked. ;-)

Hope that clears it up for everybody - perhaps someday one of us will actually sit down and work up a Nocturne Alley family tapestry of our own. Could be fun!

Somewhere at the back of my mind I knew that Narcissa's maiden name was Peltier but somehow I didn't equate this with her not being a Black.

Thank you for the explanation.

Yemen is an Islamic country, and alcohol is not permitted under Islam. Hence, it is illegal as there is no separation between Church and State in many (most) Middle Eastern countries.

How I do enjoy that the players here at NA research everything and teach us something in the process.
