wow

I was completely expecting this this, and yet it still relieved me greatly to read it. I mean, they couldn't have done it any other way, so now it's time for us to sit back and watch if a) she ever realizes what happened b) she feels bad about it/misses her baby and/or c) Draco starts feeling put out by his mother's focus on someone other than him, and starts doing more to make her pay attention to him again.

This is quite the plot device. I'm quite thrilled and can't wait to see how it'll turn out.

[EDIT: Upon closer inspection, it seems I missed the crucial post by Weetzie which explained that Narcissa was not pregnant after all, although one of the conditions is often associated with matters related to pregnancy. The craving for sugary foods are also a symptom, I've been told. A little disappointed; I was thoroughly enjoying the idea of a miscarriage, as you may well have noted. However, the research that went into this development is quite impressive, and once more the players proved their dedication to thoroughness and subtlety.

... in other matters, what of the crisis with the portraits? Did we / will we ever hear any more about the missing child-Draco?]

*sniff*

I was kind of looking forward to an NA baby...oh well, you're right, this is an excellent plot advice. I just wish Narcissa would clue in. Perhaps she doesn't WANT to face what actually happened?

Wait...why are we assuming she lost a baby? I thought she just had what the healer diagnosed and had the tumor removed. Am I missing something? (I often am!)

I too thought it was a tumor.

I just learned of that myself. however, how does that explain the cravings?

even after reading that post, the food bit was not explained. someone even suggested the insomnula-ness could have been a side-effect.

I think there's still a lot more to consider about this issue.

Actually, I thought it was explained pretty well here and here. But there's always room for interpretation with these sneaky players.

were they all sugary foods, tho? I seem to remember there were others. ah well... I'm still just bowled over that I somehow missed that whole post + thread. o_o

well, whatever the result, thank god there's no baby. The very idea really bothered me.

...did anything happen with the portraits and young Draco lately, too? Or has that gone quiet now?

Hypoglycemia causes cravings for food in general. Commonly the craving is for sugary foods (which actually makes sense considering the blood sugar level is low and that will raise it), but cravings for starchy foods (bread, cookies, pasta, etc.) or some combination of the two are also normal.

So something like that funnel cake Narcissa was after awhile ago is a perfect example. The dough is starchy but also covered in sugar. That's exactly the kind of thing that looks really, really good when your blood sugar is low :)

Kudos to the players for setting this up so well! You can tell they've really done their research.

Hmm, so Weetzie's referring to a bump rather than a lump (surely the more usual term for a tumour) does that seem to be a Freudian slip on someone's part?
