Narcissa's nostalgic

Hope I'm doing this after enough time...

A view holds nothing but memories...

And Lucius is saying the right things in response, sounds like...

*sniffle sniffle*

Maybe there's hope yet for these broken relationships...

*clings to a tissue, and hope, with all her might*

2 days left in August, perhaps this is a sign of better things to come?

I'm glad to see them making tentative steps toward reconciliation too. Though I wonder if things will really change for the better if she goes back to him right away? And it would be nice if she had a little time to go trolling around the world on her own first...

Aw, who am I kidding? Get Narcissa and her Dark Vlador back together! *invokes Happy Couple State by use of my own "happily married couple" icon* XD

While a reconcilliation may be best as far as Draco's concerned, I don't get the feeling from Narcissa that such a thing is in the works.

It does seems promising in the Echo/Lucius parallel, where she says that pups will stray, darned if she can't help but love them anyway. But later, she writes that Lucius would have benefited from self-introspection. "Would" to me is a very final, very past-tense, and very not-now-though sort of word. Sure, she still loves his evil fur hatness, but is that enough? Okay, there is the pimp cane to consider as well...

I think she knows that they still need time...nothing would be solved if she went back now. Narcissa is definitely touched by the fact that he inquired after Echo, but she seems to catch herself later in the thread and begins to put a little bit of distance between them. As sad as I am to see any couple sundered in twain, I think that Narcissa needs this time to herself. More power to her, whatever decisions she makes.

::sniffles like a baby::

There was something so wonderfully tentative about that conversation in spite of the reserve displayed on both sides. ::hopeful::

Interesting that she draws Lucius out with memories and expressions of gratitude, but when he starts turning contemplative she turns icy again. This sort of whiplash seems a characteristic Narcissa move -- I'm thinking of her recent post about returning Lucius' ring, where she managed to draw out a response from Draco, but then sort of teased him until he went away.

I wonder if Narcissa has trouble holding herself back from these little teases, these power games. Does she think she's fascinating people, being some sort of femme fatale? Is she? I think she tends to overplay her hand in a self-defeating way and just irritate the people she is trying to wrap around her finger. But that could just be me.

I'm really interested in the image of Lucius as a single dad. Very juxtapositional, in some ways. It's fascinating that in two of the three August-broken NA homes, the fathers are now in charge. It's kind of sweet that, even as different as Lucius and Arthur are, they've both risen to the challenge of taking care of the kids and house while their wives are having personal growth experiences. I'd love to see a comment thread sometime where Lucius and Arthur discuss this! Of course, we'd have to lead into it with tons of insults, but I remember the during the Veritaserum episode, they found some common marital ground.

Seems like a good lead-up to Father's Day, doesn't it?
