Anniversary
Mood: indescribable

It's Narcissa and Lucius's Anniversary and Lucius's darling Cissa bought him a cute private island.

I admit I had a couple reactions here, a few of them include:
Awwww, that's sweet.
That's a cute little island.
Vlador the cabana boy!
Ugh! Buying an entire island is disgusting. *semi-class-warfareish-sentiment-filled tangent*
d00d, that's just 6 million? Why, I could buy one of those with just about 10,000 times the amount of money I have. Oh, hey, wait, that's actually a really big number.
But why is the rum gone?

Oh, and it's the scary icon.

Man, that icon frightens me to no end.

They're not trying to make up for the emptiness of their relationship by bettering each other's material gifts, oh no, not at all.

See, I don't think their relationship is empty anymore, thanks to Narcissa's chutzpah and Lucius' surprising (maybe most of all to himself) realization that he really does love his wife. Will things work out in the end? Who knows? But whatever happens, it's bound to be interesting.

Yeah, see, I wasn't entirely sure either. I think that, as Malfoys, the pair of them can never show their love any way but ostentatiously. That's what they do. If something's wrong, buy a gift. If everything's fine, buy a gift. I think their relationship certainly has strengthened a little since Narcissa's time away, yet these showy presents feel to me like going through the motions, and because it happens often it's difficult to tell whether this time it's sincere or not.

Lucius gave her an anniversary kitten. (and a villa, and an eternity band of sorts)

If I'm not mistaken, that's actually the wedding ring that she had sent to him after leaving him over the Sirius Debacle. It'll be interesting to see if she's ready to wear it again, no? *wibblesnhopes*

Lucius and Narcissa in bathing suits on the caribbean... it falls somewhere between ridiculous, sublime and unspeakably sexy. So much bare skin. So much blonde hair. All this, and a kitten, too.

I wish some one would buy a kitten for me.

Word. Private island nothing... it's all about the kitten!

hezzabeth @ October 8 2003, 16:46:37 UTC

Oh an Island would also be nice , but the kitty is something I've always wanted.

Yeah, me too... I mean, wouldn't turn down the island, but the kitty is a very very good present :0)

This could BE WIN / WIN.

Lucius's darling Cissa bought him a cute private island.

Actually, I read it as Narcissa hinting that she'd like Lucius to buy her a private island, and he actually bought her a kitten and a trip to the islands, and returned her ring. Perhaps even Lucius doesn't have 6 million galleons lying around -- or perhaps he didn't get rich by spending them quite so freely.
