(no title)
Snape and Lupin are doing what now? Harry is in the library, for all those wondering.

And Parvati is Lovely with a capital L. And there is no Halloween ball, right? Lavender's cluelessness is the best. Okay, there is a Halloween ball.

there IS a ball, and Parvati's the one who forgot. Lavender wouldn't forget something that gives her the occasion to dress up like a princess. -.-

:-" i like how lavender doesn't even read most of parvati's entry. :))

(parent)

bobbery @ October 11 2003, 16:14:49 UTC

Lavender probably just zoned in on the Ball and could not think about anything else while commenting. It's not like Lavender could pick up on just what the mention of having fish for dinner was really all about.

READ?!

:-o

sistermagpie @ October 11 2003, 17:25:51 UTC

She may have read it. Parvati is putting down divination which is something they used to be into together and presumably Lavender is still drinking too much tea etc. and naturally isn't ready to talk to Parvati about it. Certainly she's not going to talk about what happened last year.

It's sad, though, that Parvati is growing beyond her. Good for Parvati, of course, but I think she wishes Lavender was growing with her. Parvati's "I don't think she knows where India is," indicated to me that Lavender wasn't interested in her summer in India, where Parvati grew a lot.

I don't think it's intentionally shallow on Lavender's part, though. I mean, she is kind of shallow, of course, but she's determined not to deal with serious things at all because she can't handle it. Her eating disorders have a lot to do with her trying to go back to childhood where her parents were together and she didn't feel alone. Unfortunately all her efforts are just making her more alone. Poor Lavender. And poor Parvati for having to grow up without her best friend.:-(

I like, btw, the way that NA is showing it's not just a case of every girl who diets ending up with an eating disorder. Dieting is something that is practically expected of you as a teenager. Parvati did her bit and got tired of it.

Is it just me, or does Parvati's entry, when read closely, seem full of very, very odd word choices and associations? As if she's either: 1. whacked, 2. high, or 3. talking in code.

I tried reading every fourth word but that didn't do it.

-- just spreading some mischief, if anyone cares to run with it.

saffronlie @ October 11 2003, 23:27:30 UTC

In particular, the huge passage about fashions and colours seemed quite nonsensical and out of place to me. I'd say she was just having a Quinn moment, but Parvati seems too intelligent for that...

black_dog @ October 12 2003, 02:57:57 UTC

In particular, the huge passage about fashions and colours

Yes, this was where I strongly sensed it, but even in the bit about divination, the obsessively long and somewhat contorted sentence about reading tea leaves doesn't seem natural. And the oversight about the Halloween ball (after McGonagall mentioned it in a recent community post) seems like an excuse to use the word "Yule."

Parvati seems too intelligent for that...

Exactly, which is why, at the risk of sounding like Ernie, I suspect a secret message. But to whom? And why? And will we ever decode it?

(parent)

bobbery @ October 12 2003, 13:12:03 UTC

Couldn't she just feel awkward talking about it? Maybe it's a bit uncomfortable at the moment, and so she is talking strangely rather than being direct about it.

But it does sound code-like. I tried reading all the capitalized words, but that didn't work.

(parent)

silvernatasha @ October 13 2003, 01:03:28 UTC

Maybe the colours stand for people?

(parent)

saffronlie @ October 13 2003, 23:51:46 UTC

I thought you might really have something with that, and it's possible, but I haven't been able to draw any real parallels, no matter how many times I read the passage. It's a good idea, though, if someone has the time to sit down and really try to work it out.

*wibblewibblewibble*. I had hope that Sirius and Remus would have a nice talk and then be a step closer to getting back together...it doesn't seem that way though. Darn it. I am wibble-ing like a 2 year old who can't have a cookie :(. I'll be sad now for the rest of the night. BLUPIN!!!!!!! I STILL HAVE FAITH!!!! don't like how blupin sounds too, but yes - i still have faith in Remus/Sirius!

(parent)

saffronlie @ October 11 2003, 17:38:48 UTC

There is the Blapin option, but that sounds worse than Blupin, at least to me. I like the word Blupin, but it makes me giggle how much those words have caught on.

(parent)

zorb @ October 11 2003, 20:09:40 UTC

It's hard to mesh those two. I mean, there's Lack, or Semus, or Ririus...Maybe Luck, that kind of works, even though it's not true. But Blupin is more fun to say.

(parent)

nightflight @ October 11 2003, 20:15:19 UTC

The Japanese call it Shiriru, from the Japanese pronounciation of the pair's names: Shiriusu (Sirius) and Rupin (Lupin).

Just thought I'd add that in. =P

noirenails @ October 11 2003, 23:25:56 UTC

Nah, I'm supporting Severus/Remus. I've recently found out I like that pairing more than Remus/Sirius.

I love Snape!!!1

I wave my ickle flag for the Snape/Lupin.

Okay, I won't. To you. But you can't prevent me from loving that ship, especially as I've just recently learnt to. Honestly, as soon as I started reading the Tea series, I fell in love with that pairing.

(parent)

delfeus @ October 14 2003, 17:21:04 UTC

Why not? It's the OTP. More interesting and intense than HP/DM, HP/RW, SB/RL and such pairings... they just get so boring.

(parent)

delfeus @ October 14 2003, 17:19:31 UTC

You and million others. :D Snarry is the OTP, but in this game I'll go for Severus/Remus.

(parent)

delfeus @ October 14 2003, 17:18:50 UTC

Sirius/Remus is so yesterday. It's boring... Severus/Remus has more possibilities. :D

Okay, this is going to sound supper geeky, but whatever. Anyway, I really want to state, for the record, how cool Parvati's player is. Tonight I went to a 'Dandia' dance hosted at my college's campus, and now sitting in my dorm reading NA, what do I see? I see the very same dancing sticks in Parvati's default icon, and then here she offers to teach the dance to Lavender. Small world after all?

Just wow. Thank you, Parvati's player (and all the players, really) for working so hard to make NA as authentic as possible. Many, many <3s.

(parent)

bobbery @ October 12 2003, 13:20:15 UTC

I second the many, many <3s. She's just too cool for me, as is the rest of NA.
