*cries* OH NO! Oh, and just when I was going to take my stuffed-with-turkey-dinner ass to bed! No sleep for Kelly tonight. *wibbles quietly*

And why did he ask for Sirius? Hmm

(parent)

neveth @ November 27 2003, 21:12:50 UTC

Because Sirius has been his best friend and rescuer for years and years, and in his panic, their fights and dissagreements stop mattering.

Oh god... Listening to Into the West during this is making me cry....

(parent)

jiffy_spiffy @ November 27 2003, 21:21:03 UTC

I thought he was going to say 'Sirius help ...' I don't know, maybe 'help Harry' ... that's just what came into my head.

Narcissa is a bit of a fool to believe him, but someone told me N_A never kills its characters. They never have death or pregnancy, so here's hoping that person was right.

From the script:

BUTTERCUP,
bursting into the Prince's chambers. Count Rugen stands nearby.

BUTTERCUP
It comes to this: I love Westley. I always have. I know now I always will. If you tell me I must marry you in ten days, please believe I will be dead by morning.
CUT TO:

PRINCE HUMPERDINCK.
Just stunned. Finally, softly, he begins to talk.

HUMPERDINCK
I could never cause you grief; consider our wedding off.
(to Rugen)
You returned this Westley to his ship?

RUGEN
Yes.

HUMPERDINCK
Then we will simply alert him.
(to Buttercup now)
Beloved, are you certain he still wants you? After all, it was you who did the leaving in the Fire Swamp. Not to mention that pirates are not known to be men of their words.

BUTTERCUP
My Westley will always come for me.

HUMPERDINCK
I suggest a deal. You write four copies of a letter. I'll send my four fastest ships. One in each direction. The Dread Pirate Roberts is always close to Florin this time of year. We'll run up the white flag and deliver your message. If Westley wants you, bless you both. If not ... please consider me as an alternative to suicide. Are we agreed?

And she nods --

(later)

HUMPERDINCK
Ah! My dulcet darling. Tonight we marry. Tomorrow morning, your men will escort us to Florin Channel where every ship in my armada waits to accompany us on our honeymoon.

BUTTERCUP
Every ship but your four fastest, you mean.

The Prince looks at her blankly for a moment.

BUTTERCUP
Every ship but the four you sent.

HUMPERDINCK
Yes. Yes, of course. Naturally, not those four.

YELLIN
(bows, exits)
Your Majesties.

CUT TO:

BUTTERCUP,
staring at Humperdinck.

BUTTERCUP
You never sent the ships. Don't bother lying. It doesn't matter. Westley will come for me anyway.

HUMPERDINCK
(sharply)
You're a silly girl.

BUTTERCUP
Yes, I am a silly girl, for not having seen sooner that you were nothing but a coward with a heart full of fear.

Clarifies completely. Thanks.

Seen the princess bride?
Read the book. Much better.

(parent)

snackbreak @ November 28 2003, 22:41:07 UTC Re: Off topic

second that, although I could have done without the intro involving the hot girl at the pool :-)

(parent)

i_satin @ November 29 2003, 04:07:36 UTC Re: Off topic

Hell, yes.
And the epilogue, telling the story of how the poor author (well, not really) has had his baby stolen away from him. Why did the editor let him include that stuff?

noirenails @ November 27 2003, 22:30:34 UTC

Once I read somewhere that if you dream of catching a whale, it means a long-time suffering and then happiness. It was some Finnish book, so I don't know its English name.

(parent)

maggie_malfoy @ November 27 2003, 22:53:35 UTC

Just dreaming of a whale can mean a connection between a concious and an unconcious mind. It can also symbolise sensitivity, intelligence or learning to avoid conflict. So God only knows what's going to happen with Lupin! I wish Trelawney had been more specific about her dream.

(parent)

neveth @ November 27 2003, 22:56:15 UTC

Was it a dream or tea-leaves?

(parent)

maggie_malfoy @ November 27 2003, 23:32:24 UTC

I think she said a dream.

(parent)

Anonymous @ November 28 2003, 08:25:49 UTC

Since I can't find the a_player login... This is Trelawney's player, and it was tea leaves. She saw a little whale... I think. But with Trelawney, you can never really be sure.

(parent)

neveth @ November 28 2003, 23:24:59 UTC

Aaaah. Thanks for the clarification

(parent)

noirenails @ November 27 2003, 23:14:31 UTC

Yeah, I know. 'There are whales' doesn't really tell anything.

(parent)

maggie_malfoy @ November 27 2003, 22:39:05 UTC

I really don't think I can cope with much more than this- can someone please decide if November is going to be angsty or gleeful?! My nerves can't take much more!
