Lupin's resignation
Mood: mellow

Lupin announces he will no longer teach at Hogwarts, citing health reasons.

The poor dear. Very sad. I have a feeling there'll be an uproar from more than a few students on this one.

I will not cry. I will not cry. *sniff* I do wonder though, if health reasons are the only reasons he isn't returning.

I noticed that too. *is easily amused*

My first reaction was awww, sniff, :-(, {{Lupin}}.

My second one was: how far does the NA rule "No student/teacher relationships" go. Is it "No relationships with anyone they've ever taught or been taught by," or something less strict?

My third one was, wouldn't this make a good cover for doing some more investigation/anti-DE activity for Dumbledore?

That was my first thought, which probably speaks to my suspicious nature. [g] I just bet there's more to this than health problems. And now I'm wondering whether he's really been in as bad shape as everyone's been saying, or if they're trying to mislead the DEs. Hmmmm...

He probably is, or at least close to it. Having everyone who's been to see him at St. Mungo's lie about his condition would be a bit much, because it doesn't seem like they're blocking anyone from seeing him...

darththalia @ January 14 2004, 10:16:40 UTC

Yeah, I suppose you're right. Narcissa did see him, didn't she? I'll lay off the conspiracy theories....

On the plus side, however, he did say he was going home this summer to the "ones" who would be waiting for him. Does this point to a Remus/Sirius reunion? One can only hope ...

Gah! Heartbreak, Part Two!

I'm tired. Normally, I would take hope from the theories put forth here - maybe he's going to spy more, maybe it's all a ruse - but I think we're usually wrong about these things. I say "we" because I've put forth my share of failed theories as well; because I don't mean to discount the ruse theory in this thread. I am saying I cannot see past disheartened right now. I think NA broke my will to be a cock-eyed optimist. *sigh*

I also can't help but remember that werewolves are immortal in the NA script-book. This is how the rest of Lupin's life is going to be - forever?

I sense doom. You don't go on about a character's immortality unless you plan on doing something about it one way or another in the end. I think I've been feeling the doom for a year now. I'm worn out from denial.

Normally, I don't torture myself like this...but after two years, I suppose I have to see it through. Just...doom.

*passes torch of denial*

Wait, werewolves are immortal? When did we find this out? I started following NA right around the Outing and I've never seen anything about this...

I believe you missed Lupin's werewolf lessons in COMC.

It says very clearly in lesson 4: "Werewolves, unless killed, are immortal."

You can read all of the lessons from Lupercus' memories here. Hope that works.

*shares your sense of doom* It does seem like something's going to give, one wy or another. The war is coming out from the background, and I think Remus will only be the first causalty. *wibbles*
