This is because:
A) Ron is willing to say anything to change his partner, even "Put me in a group with Harry who I'm being a bitch and not talking to" or straight out lies like "My dad is not a complete moron when it comes to muggle things."

and B) Ron isn't looking out for the best interests of the Hogwarts field trip, the Wizarding world at large, or the sanity of Professor Lupin and Justin. It's not Ron I'm worried about, he can get over his embarrasment by Arthur by shouting and saying "SLYTHERINS SUCK" later, Lupin won't be able to have a bridal shower in St. Mungo's (though, that might fit Sinistra's theme for Sirius's "foreplay party").
