(no title)
Mood: curious

Okay, now I'm really confused/curious, and it's eating at my brain, and it hurts.

What is going on with the Narcissa and Lupin posts? What do the words mean?

YOUR ICON!

I sat here for like 15 minutes thinking WHICH DELETED SCENE IS THAT

notapipe @ April 15 2003, 21:24:42 UTC

LOL, don't we all wish. Though it basically happened when you think about it. If one wants to (and I do), they could say that I just removed the casket thingy from around Harry in the Knockturn Alley scene.

(In case you were wondering: Draco comes from the Knockturn Alley scene, Harry and the background from the Justin scene)

altricial @ April 15 2003, 21:37:27 UTC Re:

I know! It is a totally H/D scene. :D Very well manipped, by the way. :D

Do you mind if I friend you?

notapipe @ April 15 2003, 21:44:16 UTC

It's even more preverse when you think of it in a freudian sense, with the long pole coming out from Harry's hiding place when Draco touches it.

ty (though given the amount of time I spent on getting Draco out of Knockturn Alley, I honestly don't like the way their heights are, and it looks horrible much larger than 100 by 100 because of the blurring/mosaicizing I did; but this may just be a subconcious fishing for compliments, so you can ignore it)

Of course not!

You have to explain that little :"> thing, it is driving me crazy.

(parent)

altricial @ April 15 2003, 21:59:08 UTC Re:

:"> is on Yahoo Messenger :D

There was a long pole?! I need my bloody DVD!!

And it is very well manipped! I do a lot of manips and I'm impressed so it is good. :D

ditto. That thud you heard was me falling down stone cold dead. Wah.

(parent)

imochan @ April 15 2003, 21:23:22 UTC

Ok, good. I'm not imagining it, then.

o_O I just it's also ok to say I have absolutely no idea. I'm thinking some sort of code. Or secret messaging system....

what they would be talking about... i don't know.

But eeeee! it sounds cool.

(parent)

xnera @ April 15 2003, 21:24:35 UTC

I know! I've been trying to figure it out, too. Either they're quoting something, or it's a code of some kind. I don't think we've seen enough to break it if it is a code, but maybe I'll give it a try anyway.

(parent)

percy_lavender @ April 15 2003, 21:30:16 UTC

Yeah, I was trying to figure out if the words could be anagrams or something, but nothing has made sense so far lol.

(parent)

lissbabble @ April 15 2003, 21:29:38 UTC

They look like anagrams to me. I think "my sour omen" is Remus Moony. "A claret inspires" looks like "re parental crisis". The new one... let me think on it a minute...

(parent)

xnera @ April 15 2003, 21:32:15 UTC

Yeah, now that I'm looking at them, I'm pretty sure they're anagrams.

lupercus @ 2003-04-14 21:48: A claret inspires.
lupercus @ 2003-04-15 20:55: A cane riles spirit.

Both seem to be the same anagram (at least at first glance).

(parent)

notapipe @ April 15 2003, 21:32:54 UTC

Thank you! I feel kinda stupid now, because I thought breifly about anagrams, but dismissed it when I couldn't figure it out (because I suck).

This brings up an interesting peice of information. Narcissa knew Remus's Maurauder name, which means something probably (though I can't say what).

(parent)

percy_lavender @ April 15 2003, 21:33:25 UTC

A can riles spirit could be Narcissa something. But what does "elepirit" (the leftovers) make out to be? :)

(parent)

xnera @ April 15 2003, 21:35:07 UTC

Yeah, I think it's Narcissa something. Working on that now.

(parent)

notapipe @ April 15 2003, 21:35:31 UTC

AH! It's Narcissa Peltier, her maiden name. I'll find the thread where she mentions it.

(parent)

xnera @ April 15 2003, 21:37:36 UTC

THANK YOU! I figured it was her maiden name, but I couldn't remember what it was.

Why on earth would they be signing each other's names (in code) to their posts? I've got to wonder if Moony is her "business associate".

(parent)

notapipe @ April 15 2003, 21:48:14 UTC

It's in this post.

(parent)

ex_meiko437 @ April 15 2003, 21:34:47 UTC

I'm impressed! I was wondering what it was too..

(parent)

percy_lavender @ April 15 2003, 21:36:19 UTC

"A claret inspires" looks like "re parental crisis"

It looks like it but the first anagram has 2 Rs while the "re parental crisis" has 3. *ponders*

(parent)

non_inferno @ April 15 2003, 22:08:12 UTC

'A claret inspires' can become 'Splicers eat Iran'. It is a subtle political message.

(parent)

percy_lavender @ April 15 2003, 22:10:04 UTC

Ooh, it must be. Gotta watch out for those Splicers.

;)

(parent)

lissbabble @ April 15 2003, 21:40:55 UTC

Perhaps "A cane riles spirit" is "Narcissa I Peltier". Or, if Narcissa's middle name doesn't begin with "I", perhaps it's "I, Narcissa Peltier" instead. This still doesn't explain why they're using the anagrams and what each specific one indicates, really. Do wish I knew...

(parent)

notapipe @ April 15 2003, 21:50:39 UTC

I'm inclined to think this dates way back, perhaps to their school days. After all, it's MOONY, Remus's Marauder name.

(parent)

notapipe @ April 16 2003, 04:32:46 UTC

Technically, you can add or delete a letter in an anagram, so the other I may be chaff.

(parent)

karabou @ April 15 2003, 21:31:22 UTC

Maybe they are talking behind purestblood's back in some way? I don't know.. I am just as baffled as you. ^^;

That very well may be the case. Remus has always treated Narcissa with respect and both seem to enjoy the other's company. Narcissa is throwing that party for Remus and he treats her like an equal, gives advice, and tries to calm her fears about her son. That doesn't mean that Nacissa doesn't have The Malfoy Attitude; she does and it shows at times concerning matters of money, society, and her son but when she talks to Remus it seems to soften and at times I think I see someone else peaking out.

I think she draws strength from Remus. He tries to show her that she isn't some show-piece but a person that can do things for herself. I think that it's safe to say that he can be indirectly credited to this rebellion of Narcissa's; she doesn't like the way her husband is treating their son so she will make life very hard for Lucius in the best way she knows how.

But whatever platonic goings-on are happening between them, they seem to enjoy it and I hope it continues.

(parent)

elessaria @ April 15 2003, 21:59:09 UTC

But why each other's names? Why not each sign their own?

::Baffled::

(parent)

cacklebang @ April 15 2003, 22:00:52 UTC

A silly theroy, but it might be a nod to the other that they would like a reply to the message.

Like saying someone's name to prompt them to speak.

(parent)

notapipe @ April 16 2003, 01:01:20 UTC

Is that Arsenic and Old Lace? Sweet.

(parent)

milenalupin @ April 16 2003, 03:57:27 UTC

I don't think the theory is silly, but if it like you were suggesting, they don't always act like it.

In this thread for instance Narcissa signed with the anagram code, but Remus didn't answer.

(parent)

shusu @ April 16 2003, 09:11:11 UTC GUYS!!

Sorry, had to grab your attention.

Have fun finding more!

Can we keep a list of letters that are extra? They might be important.
