Thou wishest thou couldst go to the ball; is it not so?
I got a return owl from Mum today. I wrote to her explaining my costume idea, so she's going to help me look up a good spell for it. I reckon the hardest part's going to be the shoes. Soblessa says she doesn't understand my interest in Muggle fairy tales, but they're really very interesting in how they interpret magic. I only first became interested in them when we read about them in Muggle Studies last year, so I haven't read as many as I'd like to. However, I told her the entire story, and she reckoned we ought to try Transfiguring a pumpkin into a coach like the godmother did, but I'm not so great at Transfiguration. We went down to the gardens and fetched two small pumpkins anyway, and hollowed them out in our room so she could try, but the best she managed was to make her pumpkin sprout legs, and we had a bit of a time chasing it around trying to catch it. When we finally did, she turned it back, and we made them into little jack-o-lanterns. We talked for a little while about Soblessa's costume (she's going as Celestina Warbeck, so she's going to streak her hair and fix up her old pink robes like the ones Celestina wears) and about how she doesn't have a date because she's mad at her boyfriend and won't go with him. But that's okay, because I told her I'll be her date and she can stick by me, because I don't have anyone to go with either.
Colin says he's going to be a "noozy." I'm not sure what that is except he's got a funny hat he's going to wear and he's been saving up Daily Prophets.
Ooh, Double Herbology tomorrow.

Oh! I'd almost forgotten about the Ball... I don't really have a costume either, or a date. I'll probably just wear this nice Chinese robe my mother gave me; I wore it for the Chinese New Year festival once. Your costume idea sounds lovely.
