I seem to have had my journal set on private; Professor Sprout has told me that my entries don't count unless I make them readable by all of you. Ernie, I know you said that we should be careful what we say in our diaries, so I'm going to go back through my old entries and make sure that I didn't say anything I shouldn't have. I hope nobody minds, especially the professors.

It's odd - all this time, I thought nobody was replying because nobody wanted to talk with me. Which is ok. I don't mind, really. I have projects to finish anyway.

At least I finished my lantern and my mooncake in time for the Festival. My lantern was based on this design, which I saw in one of the Muggle magazines that my Grandma sends me from New York. It reminded me of one of her firecrabs. My dots weren't as even as the lamp's and I don't think that my idea to have colours representing all of Hogwarts' houses went over well with anybody.

I did have a lot of time to look at everyone else's lanterns at the Festival, in between helping Madame Pomfrey apply Burning Salve to some of the more careless students. Ever since I spent that week in the infirmary after she fixed my nose, I feel obligated to help her, unlike [info]just_harry, who ends up there again and again, and never feels any need to give back to the community at all.

While I was helping her, I just happened to notice that Ron's lantern was afire - no, Ernie, I didn't see who did it - and luckily I had my wand, because I shot some water at it to put it out. Unfortunately, [info]missgranger stepped in front of me and did the same thing, so I don't think he noticed.

I can see it, Eloise. You should be careful, though. You're pretty lucky that no one was reading it before. Now they'll be scouring it to figure out how you fixed your nose. A lot of people think you used Dark magic for that, you know. I mean, we all know you went to Madam Pomfrey, but some people think that's just a clever trick. You might want to watch yourself. Of course, I've got everyone's back.
