Current music:You're Pretty Bad Looking - The Black Dots

What a horrible day! Hannah HIT me at breakfast and then a bunch of people took the piss out of me for all of Double History of Magic. Draco Malfoy and Millicent Bulstrode kept sticking drawings of me and Hermione all over my rucksack because Ron Weasley decided to make the whole school think we were snogging. I don't know what kind of jerk does that to his friends but I expect I'm safer being not his friend.

This is rotten. I feel like everyone's looking at me all the time, looking and laughing! Then we had Double Herbology with Gryffindor in the afternoon, so that was really great. I worked with Justin and everything but I'd rather not spend a lesson with a bunch of traitorous jerks. Except maybe Ginny Weasley but she's not in our year anyway. I bet this was all part of Weasley's plan. Ron Weasley, I mean.

Anyway Justin's going to teach me to balance a broom on my forehead so I'm busy now.

I'm really sorry, Ernie. Gryffindor really isn't full of traitorous jerks. I wish you wouldn't think that way.

That's hardly traitorous. It's not their fault they were wrongly informed.

You shouldn't treat your friends as gossip!!!!!

I agree, but I don't think anyone voted to be hurtful.

I think it means they were already speculating like it was gossip!

You do not like our art?

That is rude.

You're the rude one!

Sorry about Ron. He didn't stop and think, which is a Weasley trait.

erniemacmillan @ 2004-03-24 09:38 pm UTC

Whatever! You know, I probably wouldn't even have cared if I hadn't spent the whole day with people teasing me because of it. I just think it's a rotten thing to do to a friend and there were TWO people doing it, not just Ron Weasley. Even the privacy issues aside it's totally rude to say that to everyone, like he thinks we fancy each other, making it totally awkward for us to talk to each other. I mean, I had no idea what to say when she just commented because now I'm like, 'Uh, does Hermione fancy me?' Of course she doesn't but when everyone's saying it all day it gets kind of hard to ignore it, man.

Oh well.

I understand. It's a really awkward situation to be in, and I agree that it was rude of him. He didn't think you fancied each other and other people were saying you two were dating and I think he just went to the nearest source of information, the community. He was stuck in the library with Parvati Patil, so he couldn't go find anyone. I reckon he was upset because he thought if it was true then Hermione should have told him, he shouldn't have found out from other people. That isn't a really brilliant excuse, but still. Anyway I'm really sorry things are awkward for you and Hermione now. 'Cos she was relieved, at least, getting so much revising in and having a friend to sit with that wouldn't quit after an hour, you know? And now she feels she's responsible as well, for Ron, since they're friends. It's a bad situation all around.

Well I guess it makes sense if he was pissed off that Hermione wouldn't tell him. But Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown are gossips anyway, and I'm not saying that because they're in Gryffindor, I'm saying it because it's true. Anyway, why is it Hermione's fault? She's probably more embarrassed than me. I bounce back, young one, I bounce back.

It isn't Hermione's fault, she and I both just feel responsible by default, and like we should apologise for him, even though we didn't do anything, really. I feel like I should have gotten him to delete it instead of just telling him it was rude. Anyway, I know they both tend to gossip, but most girls do. Most girls have this part of their brain that makes them think they are fat no matter what and that makes them compare themselves compulsively with others, and that's part of what gossip is, that and a delight in other people's business I suppose. Hermione, I know, doesn't appreciate it, and you know she's had all kinds of stuff written about her - like in the press, about her dating Harry which never happened of course, so I think she's more upset that you were upset. She doesn't really pay that much attention to rubbish.

Well, if you've bounced back, !

Man, I totally forgot about that rubbish in Witch Week or whatever. That would be a lot worse!

I don't think boys really worry that someone's going to think they fancy someone because boys don't really care. I mean, I don't care if Justin fancies Susan and he's not going to be all secretive about it and I'm not going to post a poll about it. Although that doesn't really work when Weasley's a boy and he's the one posting the poll. Still, totally instigated by Patil.

Anyway, buck up, it's not your fault. It's just a weird thing.

Well, that's where Ron's an exception, I have a feeling if someone had posted the poll about Ron and Hermione then he'd be just as offended or embarrassed but he's just odd like that, it all seems to make him uncomfortable. I think he needs a girlfriend but unless one comes by wearing a Chudley Cannons hat or something who knows.

Well, sorry, now I'm gossiping.
