Today Harry and I went to Cornwall, to the beach. I had long ago promised to teach Harry how to surf. The waves there are good for a beginner, and it was far too hot to do anything else.

So we took the bike, and it was a glorious day. No clouds at all, and the ride was smooth.

Harry seemed eager to go at first, but I fear he would rather have been somewhere else. He picked up the surfing skill quite quickly; he has a natural balance that no doubt comes from being a seeker.

It was nice to spend time with Harry again.

Surfing in a speedo? My, you do like to live dangerously, don't you?

jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:16 am UTC

I don't believe I specified my attire, Lucius.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 12:17 am UTC

Oh, Sirius... haven't you realized that, with me, attire is an entirely foregone conclusion?

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:20 am UTC

I don't think I know what you're talking about.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 12:23 am UTC

Ah. Perhaps you need a reminder? I know things have been so taxing for you lately, with your beloved gone away. Nights must be forever without Remus, I daresay.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:25 am UTC

I really feel it would be imprudent for me to discuss that with you.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 12:29 am UTC

I must agree. I know that you have never been guilty of any such imprudent acts in your life, and I am well aware of your status as Harry's role model. It's a heavy mantle, but you wear it well. Once in a while, though, it does feel good to slip off the cloak of responsibility.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:31 am UTC

You have a way with words, Lucius.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 12:33 am UTC

You have many talents yourself, Sirius.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:39 am UTC

Thank you. I remember them dimly.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 12:40 am UTC

You can do better than that. Stop pining and do something to refresh your memory. Those talents are far too remarkable to be wasted.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:42 am UTC

Did you have a specific suggestion?

(parent)
potions_master @ 2003-08-09 12:45 am UTC

You truly are an imbecile, aren't you Black?

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:46 am UTC

You truly are pathetic, aren't you, Sevvie?

(parent)
potions_master @ 2003-08-09 12:47 am UTC

Perhaps, but then, I've nothing left to lose.

Idiot.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 12:48 am UTC

Exactly.

(parent)
potions_master @ 2003-08-09 12:57 am UTC

And once again, you have missed my point.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:03 am UTC

I would be more than happy to owl you a list, if that would help you to retrieve that which was nearly lost.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 01:08 am UTC

You are so magnanimous, Lucius.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:12 am UTC

I am many things. However, I'm sure you already knew that.

Would you like an owl? I'd be happy to provide one.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 01:19 am UTC

I am well aware of that fact, yes.

However, it appears you have your hands full already, at the moment.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:20 am UTC

As you are undoubtedly aware, marriage is both a sacrament and a blessing.

(parent)
jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 01:32 am UTC

Well said.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 12:40 am UTC

Lucius.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 12:54 am UTC

Yes, my love?

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:01 am UTC

What are you doing?

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:08 am UTC

Merely conversing with Sirius. He's quite at a loss as to how to comport himself being deprived as he is of Remus' company. He took Harry surfing today. Did you know that Sirius can surf?

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:13 am UTC

Did you know that while you are conversing with Sirius, your wife is in duress over the state of her house elf and is in need of her medicinal potions?

I suppose you are too caught up in your other engagements at the moment to realize this.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:16 am UTC

Darling, I confess that I was too engrossed in Sirius's pain. I know that you have performed much the same service for Remus recently, so I took it upon myself to follow your example. I neglected you in so doing.

I shall be at your bedside momentarily.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:19 am UTC

I have been expecting you for the past hour so I do hope that 'momentarily' truly means what the word encompasses. I feel ever so faint right now and shan't have the strength to grant you access to my chambers if you tarry.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:22 am UTC

And that, my darling, would be a tragedy unto the ages. As the great king Ozymandias once said, "Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair!" Nevertheless, I shall rush to your side and hope with every click of my heels on the parquet floors of my ancestral home that you find it within your heart to grant me my rights as your husband.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:34 am UTC

I should find it within my heart to do so pending a nearly-overwhelming display of compassion on your part, dear. I am most vexed right now as I feel ever so uncomfortable.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:36 am UTC

Oh, my love, I could never do something that would vex you. Certainly the wrinkle on your forehead is due to your most uncomfortable state; one which I shall rectify immediately.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:38 am UTC

I have no wrinkle on my forehead!

You have just succeeded in making me even more vexed, Lucius.

Woe.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:43 am UTC

Sleep well, my darling. I do so take comfort in knowing that you are well protected and cared for in the home I so lovingly provide for you and the items you so covet. It warms my heart.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:45 am UTC

I suppose I should thank our fathers for that fact, dearest.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:47 am UTC

I suppose you should. It is a heavy burden your father placed upon me, entrusting me with your care and ensuring that you would live a long and happy life under my roof, but one I gladly accepted. A husband and wife have no secrets, do they, my love?

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:49 am UTC

He certainly did think you were up to the task. It was such a shame that he began losing hold of his sensibility before his untimely passing, was it not?

I can confidently say that I have withheld no secrets from you. I trust that you can say the same to me, can I not?

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 01:55 am UTC

I know you mourned his death for a long time, since you were so close to him. I daresay you must miss him terribly. I'm sure that he was fully in possession of his faculties when in your presence, my dove.
As to secrets, oh darling, you know me far well than a wife ought to, but, out of deference to you, I cannot hold back. Your support of my endeavours and your willing embrace of all my colleages means more to me than you will ever know.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 02:02 am UTC

I did indeed mourn his passing for so very long and, in truth, I miss him more than I miss Mother. Although you are bravely trying to comfort me, I must insist that my father was not himself those last few months. Why, remember how belligerent he seemed at our wedding?

As your wife, of course I should take it upon myself to support your endeavors and your colleagues. I am only human, however, and like some of them less than others at times.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 02:14 am UTC

Sleep well, my love. Let not a worry turn your pretty little head as you dream of gowns and spa treatments. That reminds me... my supervisor is quite impressed with the work you've done for him in the past and requires your services again, seeing your facility with matters of wardrobe. But rest assured, my love, that this, among many other things, will remain a secret. A husband would never spill his wife's secrets.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 02:23 am UTC

I fear that I am rather busy right now and shan't have the time to worry myself with such matters. Please inform your supervisor of this and express my deepest apologies.

Of course a husband would not divulge his wife's secrets lest he wished to have the favour returned to him in kind and tenfold.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 02:27 am UTC

I'm sure he will be most displeased, unused as his is to having his desires flouted but I shall, of course, pass on your message and inform him that you are recovering nicely. He's been ever so concerned for you and, of course, always inquires after Draco. Now sleep, my love. No secrets shall be spilled, nor a drop of your precious vodka. One who was mean-spirited or even in a temper would think that your consumption of said vodka makes you dangerously unreliable and your veracity questionable but I, of course, know the truth.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 02:35 am UTC

Displeased though he may be, surely he shall understand that I am not in a state to be able to assist him properly in light of my current condition. Although I find his interest in inquiring after Draco admirable and very polite, perhaps he should like to focus his attention on repairing recent damage to his company.

My consumption of vodka is both no one's business and not a detriment to me in the slightest of degrees. Additionally, I have barely consumed a drop of it in the past two months on account of my ill health. Those who find themselves in a temper or who are mean-spirited in nature often say many things that a sensible person would dismiss as rubbish.

(parent)
purestblood @ 2003-08-09 02:38 am UTC

Of course, my love. I can't imagine why anyone would say such things about you. Your relationship with Draco serves to illustrate the wonderful qualities you possess and it truly stands as one of the most touching mother/son relationships to date. Certainly I have never seen its like.

Sleep well, my darling Narcissa.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 12:22 am UTC

Have you heard anything about Weetzie?!?!

And hello, Sirius. I hope you are well, all things considered as they are.

jadedsirius @ 2003-08-09 01:53 am UTC

Thank you for your gracious concern. In the same vein, I hope you are less vexed.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-08-09 01:54 am UTC

I have had word from Remus and it appears that Weetzie is being cared for by the Changs. If her conditions changes I can let you know if you would like.

Thank you.
