Going Home For the Summer
Mother came to pick me up from the station, and she was quite hysterical when she saw me get off the train, crying even after she'd checked me over for any remaining sign of injury. (There really wasn't any although my head still aches and the tissue around my ankle is still a bit tender.) Mother insisted on holding my hand as if I were still eleven years old, but despite this, it was very nice to see her. I didn't mind it, I suppose, the way she kept on hugging me. Unfortunately father was not there as he was still away on business.

Mother did want to know how I'd gotten injured so I told her what I recalled about what had happened. The day had seemed like any other, but during our History of Magic class, there had been a great rumbling type noise. (It was the collapse of the floor although none of us knew what it was then, only that it was quite a frightful sound!) It had been enough to cause quite a panic among the students, but Professor Binns had been oblivious to what was going on and merely continued with his lecture. Therefore, Hannah and I had to do our best to lead the students to the Great Hall in his place per McGonagall's instructions. However, there'd been another scare on our way there, and amidst all the confusion with the students (we'd tried to calm them down), I'd had an accident on the stairwell. I told her I didn't remember much after that aside from waking up in hospital.

Mother said to me she didn't understand why I hadn't the sense to go with Millicent Bulstrode and Draco Malfoy and found a safe place to stay. I told her that certainly I would have if I had not been unconscious when they'd left. But that was really the only thing she'd said to mar my otherwise pleasant homecoming, and I can forgive my mum even that because she has agreed to let me work at the ministry over the summer!

I'd just received the letter before I left for home. As it turns out, after my brief meeting with Mr. Weasley in Hogsmeade, he was able to manage to get me a job at the front desk in his department. (I've already written a thank you letter to Mr. Weasley for all he has done, but also one to Professor Snape because he had given me permission to go to Hogsmeade in the first place. Really, Professor Snape is such an amazing head of our house.) In all honesty, I am ever so thrilled at the opportunity. I think mother only really is letting me because she thinks that it is secretarial type work which is suitable for "a lady" when it comes to occupations. But this is merely the first step in the ladder in my opinion, so I shall take it graciously.

This summer shall be quite busy thankfully between studying for N.E.W.T.s, getting my apparating license, working at the Ministry, and trying to see Millicent and Draco on occassion. I think I may also stop by Queenie Greengrass' house should I have the chance. I do not believe I've seen her at all since that incident at Hogwarts, and I hadn't even the opportunity to wish her a nice summer before we all left. I have the feeling she has been avoiding me so I intend to clear that up.

Perhaps we can drop by Queenie's together for a friendly visit after I disown my parents.

Re:

How are your cretins?

I wonder if they give discounts for mass disownment.

We ought to rent a flat together for the summer just to get away from them.

That wouldn't be very ladylike, Millicent. You might tear your gloves.

Re:

No.

But I will not stop you from doing so.

How about earlier this week?

Now works for me.

I am easy.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about Queenie. I can have that taken care of.

Oh, darling, I am not worried per se. Why don't the three of us go see her together?

Doesn't Queenie live in Lincolnshire?
