Detention
I have only just come back from Professor Snape's detention assignment. My fingers, of course, are unbelievably sore and I do look forward to a long luxurious bath. (Days like these I wish I were a Prefect.) I can't believe I must serve another detention tomorrow. I do not mind hard work but doing the same thing for approximately six hours gets both tedious and monotonous. Furthermore, it was quite unfortunate that this had to be done all by hand, because my mother has taught me a handy spell that does such a nice and thorough job and only takes half the time.

I did try to engage Hermione in conversation but she did not seem too enthusiastic. Admittedly, Hermione's presence made me slightly uncomfortable as it's very clear she does not have a high opinion of my friends. I would have preferred to have been supervised by Professor Sprout herself as I'm curious as to why she chose to use Enrumpent dung as opposed to Mooncalf dung. My mother has always said the latter was just about the best kind of fertilizer one could use and it has been listed as #2 on the Top Ten fertilizers in the Witches' Monthly Home Journal. Enrumpent dung was only #5. However, it is much less expensive than Mooncalf so perhaps that was the reason. Despite that, Professor Sprout has a lovely variety of plants - although one of them just about took my arm off - I am hardly fond of the flesh-eating variety, let me tell you!

But that bath is calling...

Pansy -

While I appreciate that your behaviour has changed, surely you cannot help but notice that both Malfoy and Bulstrode continue to harrass and insult me and my friends, typically without provocation. As you do not seem to consider their behaviour wrong or inappropriate, it is hard for me to believe that you do not agree with their sentiments.

Hermione

Dear Hermione,

Your friends also choose to belittle my friends, insult them, insult their nature, insult their looks, and they often go beyond merely my friends to the entire Slytherin House. Forgive me for not standing up for you when you hardly tell them this behaviour is wrong any more than I have told mine.

Pansy
