That depends, Ron. Is there a particular reason you do not have a partner in my class?
lupercus @ 2003-04-03 09:00 pm UTC |
Blaise Zabini has not been to lessons, Ron, and I believe I assigned you to Seamus.
Care to explain?
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-03 09:08 pm UTC Re: |
I uh, Seamus and Dean wanted, I thought- you know, I think, Zabini should be getting detentions then?

That is all very well and noble of you, but I'm sorry, you still defied my instructions.
Ten points from Gryffindor, and detention this Saturday for all three of you.
You could have just come to me and asked, you know. I might have understood, and I don't bite.

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-03 10:09 pm UTC Re: |
But I thought you said we couldn't switch partners! I'd have asked if I- sorry, Professor. I'll be there for detention.

I am also reasonable, Ron, and if one of my students had come to me with a sufficient reason not to be partnered with someone I had chosen for them, I would have - at the very least - considered it.
Regardless, you went against my wishes. Again, I am sorry.
Detention is at 1300 hours. I need some help out in the Forest finding Doxies for the second years. That'll be more than enough work for the four of us.

Please, Professor, it was all my idea, really! Dean didn't even know about it until it was done and Ron was just being helpful. I'll be there for detention, to be sure, but need they be?
And yes, sir, you were rather firm about us not switching partners, so I didn't like to ask. It's really my fault, for having been idiot enough to be fighting with Dean in the first place, so that we didn't pick partners before you selected them for us. I don't mind being punished for that--I certainly deserve it--but surely not Dean and Ron!

You sound so much like James Potter right now, Seamus, that it's mildly frightening.
I understand that your hearts were all in the right place, but the fact is that I set down rules and you saw to break them. Though your intentions were well-meant I can't overlook this, simply because I know you are all aware that I am not adverse to my students approaching me with their concerns - regardless of whether or not you think your request will be successful.
The point is, Seamus, that none of you even tried.
I realise it's a bit unfair to bring Dean into it, but he's in the same class you are and was aware of the same rule, and he went along with it. Therefore, the punishment falls to him as well.
And if I could find Zabini, believe me, Blaise would share your fate.
I'm sorry, Seamus. I'll see you on Saturday.

I understand, Professor. And we're all really sorry.
Right, Seamus? Ron?
