All this talk of intolerance has got me to thinking. Firstly, Dean, I am truly sorry about your parent's attitude and both Remus and I are available for both you and Seamus (or any other students, for that matter) to talk to at any point.

Luckily, I've not had this particular problem. My father died when I was quite young, and possibly as a result, my mother indulged me quite a bit. It never seemed to be an issue for her whether I liked a girl or a boy. As long as I kept my grades up and she didn't get too many irate letters from professors, she let me make my own decisions.

I realise now that she was a truly great woman. I never got to thank her for that. She died while I was in Azkaban. Another thing I think I will never really get over. She was probably the one person who steadfastly believed in my innocence from the start. She never wavered, and Merlin only knows what intolerance she had to withstand from everyone else in the world; the mother of the infamous murdering traitor Sirius Black.

Now I can only visit her grave, and leave lilies of the valley, which she loved.

Never waste the time you're given, however short.

~Sirius Black

I remember your mother.

She weathered the storm surrounding your arrest admirably. Would that I were able to claim the same sort of grace, but even with her as your only champion, Padfoot, it was as if you had the strength of an army behind you. It was her efforts for mercy that kept you from being Kissed straight away after capture.

It isn't every mother than can give her child life twice.

I visited her once, after you were gone. It was strained, because I was not so certain as she, and she knew that, but she was still dignified and pleasant. And I went to her funeral. Brought her lillies.

If Dean's parents have any sense in their heads they will realise sooner than later that this time we have is far, far too short for foolishness. You and I learned this the hard way. I would never wish that on anyone else. Maybe we might need to have a little chat with Mr and Mrs Thomas some time, d'you think?

Love you, Padfoot.

-Moony

Is it actually possible that I love you more each day?

Thank you, Remus.

I don't know what to say, Professor....I guess this all makes my problems look pretty silly, doesn't it? What's a nasty letter compared to...well, you know...

That will be 1 point from Gryffindor for doubting yourself, Mr. Thomas.

I didn't mean to belittle your situation, Dean. But you will get through it, and you have many friends who are willing and able to stand behind you. Don't forget that. We care.

Re:

No, you didn't belittle it at all!

And I know...I'll be fine...all of you have been a really huge help!

And really, if everything else fails, I can always send them one of Fred and George's Deluxe Howlers. >:)
