ATTENTION: SIXTH YEARS
On Monday, all of you shall accompany me on an excursion to the Ministry of Magic, where we will be visiting the Werewolf Support Services, the Registry and the Capture Unit.

You will all report to the CoMC classroom at 9am Monday morning, where we shall take a Portkey to London. However, due to security measures we cannot Portkey directly into the Ministry itself. In the interests of safety the Portkey has been configured to deliver everyone to a pre-determined safe-point located in Hyde Park. From there we will have to take Muggle transportation the rest of the way to the Ministry.

As such, I have arranged you all into groups - four groups of eight people, plus one additional group of seven with myself included. Each of these groups is led by a Muggle-born student who will guide us through Muggle London and get us safely to the Ministry. You will all stay in the group to which you are assigned, along with the partner you have had throughout the course.

Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy, as you both do not have partners you are hereby assigned to each other.

The groups are as follows:

GROUP ONE, led by Hermione Granger:
Neville Longbottom
Sonia Fawcett and Eloise Midgen
Catherine Moon and Tracey Davis
Wayne Hopkins and Holt Spinks

GROUP TWO, led by Justin Finch-Fletchley
Terry Boot
Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy
Lisa Turpin and Padma Patil
Lavender Brown and Susan Bones

GROUP THREE, led by Dean Thomas
Seamus Finnigan
Morag MacDougal and Michael Corner
Vincent Crabbe and Queenie Greengrass
Quincy Rincewind and Clive Macnair

GROUP FOUR, led by Kevin Entwhistle
Ishmael Smith
Stephen Cornfoot and Megan Jones
Su Li and Alameda Lassicle
Hannah Abbott and Mandy Brocklehurst

GROUP FIVE, led by Harry Potter
Parvati Patil
Pansy Parkinson and Millicent Bulstrode
Ernie Macmillan and Gregory Goyle

Do not leave your group under any circumstances. If you do become separated from your group IMMEDIATELY return to the meeting point in Hyde Park. The Portkey - an empty cigarette packet - will take you safely back to Hogwarts.

Since we are going to be in Muggle London for an extended period of time, you are not to wear your school uniforms and robes. Several generous parents have graciously donated Muggle clothing to our school for just this sort of occasion - Professor Wiglorn of Muggle Studies has graciously left her office open to all who require Muggle outfits, or you may buy new ones if you so wish. You must have your clothing chosen and approved (by Professor Wiglorn or a Muggle-born student) by tomorrow morning - if you do not know what to do, ask someone. I'm sure there are plenty of people available to help you.

Each group leader will be given enough Muggle money to get everyone through Muggle transportation. You may also bring a small amount of Wizard currency with you as we will be stopping in Diagon Alley before returning to Hogwarts.

Group leaders, please arrive an hour before departure for a briefing.

See you all tomorrow.

- Professor Lupin

Professor Lupin, I think you've made a mistake. I seem to be the only Slytherin in group two. Also, I don't think I'll need a partner, so Weasley can go with you.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 10:56 pm UTC

As an adult, Draco, I do not require a partner. You, however, do. You will go with Ron.

And you will stay in Group Two.

Group Five needs more people, Professor! I'll go into Group Five to save you the trouble of rearranging us so- no wait, no no, Group Four, yeah I'll be in Group Four, thanks! Bye!

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:46 pm UTC

There will be no changing groups, Ron.

Stay. Put.

Also, I don't have any Muggle clothes and I seem to have misplaced my pocket money for the week. Surely I can get by in just my Hogwarts uniform without the crests.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 10:58 pm UTC

There is plenty of clothing still available from Professor Wiglorn. I'm sure you can go without pocket money this once. If you need any, I can lend you some.

Er, you know, Professor, I'm not feeling too good and portkeys make me throw up all the time and I'm sure my mum will get all howlery if I get sick on the brilliant maroon outfit she owled me so I'll volunteer to stay in Hogwarts, okay!

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:50 pm UTC

I have anti-nausea spells.

You are going.

potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:32 pm UTC

Also, is Muggle transportation really necessary? Surely we can fly.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:01 pm UTC

Flying in Muggle London is strictly not allowed by Wizard Law, Draco. You know this.

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:43 pm UTC

Can I take my dad's flying car?

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:53 pm UTC

NO.

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:34 pm UTC

Also, I really don't see how Finch-Fletchley is a good group leader. If I'm the only Slytherin, as a Prefect, I feel it should be me.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:03 pm UTC

Justin was raised in the Muggle world, Draco, therefore he is more adept at navigating it than you - a Wizard child - would be.

Prefect status has nothing to do with it.

Professor Lupin

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:45 pm UTC

I know Muggle thingys, Professor Lupin! You've seen my dad right? Trust me, I know! I can partner with Justin as leaders!

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:55 pm UTC

Ron, that's very nice of you but I'm sure Justin will do fine on his own. I'm... aware of your father's interest in Muggles, but I think first-hand experience will be better for everyone.

Professor Lupin

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:36 pm UTC

Also, I don't really think I'd like to spend a lot of time in Muggle London. I'll opt out of that one, thanks.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:06 pm UTC

There is no other option, Draco. You will go with the rest of the class.

Professor Lupin

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:48 pm UTC

Oh no! I broke my foot, Professor! Qudditch accidents, you know. I doubt it'll be healed in time for me to go for this, so very sorry, I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun but I'll just have to stay in Hogwarts and think of you all. Poor me!

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:58 pm UTC

There was no Quidditch today, Ron.

See you bright and early tomorrow.

- Professor Lupin.

potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:38 pm UTC

Also, as I don't associate with any 'Muggle-borns' and don't take Muggle Studies, I won't have anyone to approve my clothes, so I've decided to do it myself.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:08 pm UTC

Professor Wiglorn is available even to students who do not take her lessons, Draco, to help with whatever you might need.

I am also available, having lived as a Muggle for a time.

Professor Lupin

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:50 pm UTC

Does she have anything not maroon?

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-14 12:03 am UTC

Yes.

Professor Lupin

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:41 pm UTC

Also, Brown would probably prefer to be with the Gryffindor Patil, so you'll have to take her out of my group.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:10 pm UTC

Lavender is assigned to your group and to your group she will remain.

Professor Lupin

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:52 pm UTC

WHY IS DRACO MALFOY NOT WITH PARKINSON AND BULSTRODE?!

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-14 12:05 am UTC

Because they are not in his group.

You are, however.

- Professor Lupin

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:41 pm UTC

Also, I think Pansy and Millicent should probably be moved to group two. Unless of course you'd like to see Macmillan heading for the nearest urgency shelter.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:15 pm UTC

Ernie will be fine, and I am certain Pansy and Millicent will be on their best behaviour. They will stay where they are.

Professor Lupin

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:54 pm UTC

I think Malfoy should be moved to another group, really. And I think I'll do better without a partner, I like independent learning and all that etcetcetc, so please?

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-14 12:06 am UTC

No.

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:43 pm UTC

Also, you know, I don't actually need a group. Father's told me that Muggle London is extraordinarily easy to get around. Besides, with a group like that it will probably detriment my experience rather than help it. Also, I won't be attending Muggle London at all, so it's best if I just go at it without a group. You'll have to change that.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:18 pm UTC

Muggle London is very, very big and very, very complicated. I doubt that your father would want his son wandering around such a place on his own and I will not allow it.

That is enough.

Professor Lupin

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-04-13 11:55 pm UTC

Maybe my dad can partner me instead?

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-14 12:06 am UTC

No.

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-04-13 10:45 pm UTC

Also, I really don't think it's best if I partner with Weasley. It's not my fault Sally-Anne transferred. Weasley already has a partner. Maybe it will even show up, so I'll just go with myself. You'll have to rearrange the pairings, because this is just not going to do at all.

lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:20 pm UTC

You WILL be in a group.
You will NOT wander around on your own.
You WILL have Ron as your partner.
You WILL wear Muggle clothing.
You WILL stop complaining.
Or you WILL fail this class.

Professor Lupin? Seamus doesn't have a partner so I'll partner him so you don't have to worry about partnering me with anyone and I won't get lost or anything with Seamus around so thanks! Bye!

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-04-13 11:28 pm UTC

Seamus may have nearly lost his partner to the copy machine, Ron, but Dean is fine and will be up and able-bodied by tomorrow. I can't very well separate them now, after all the trouble you went through so they could be partners, can I?

You'll be fine, Ron.
