I'm going to write you here, is that okay? You'll probably get this when you get back. Maybe you'll even be back for Dumbledore's party. I'll be there too, you know, but just for the night. Then Remus says I have to go back.

Remus came to visit me a couple of times. He really misses you too. Where are you? If they're going to send you somewhere warm, at least they could wait until winter to do it, don't you think? I was looking at the globe and trying to guess, but it's summer and so you could be anywhere. I thought maybe you were in a desert, maybe the Sahara desert, or that one in China that's so big, but why would they send you there? You're probably not in Australia or the other end of Africa, because it's winter there right now, right? Or maybe in South America. But those places seem like they'd be hot all the time, and not just in summer. It's kind of strange to think about snow in Africa. Maybe you are there. So I ruled out Antarctica, anyway, and Greenland, because it's probably still cold there.

It's my birthday tomorrow. You probably know that already. It'd be nice if you could come home for that, if you could. You and Remus could come and visit and we could all go play snooker. Remus is brilliant at it, you know. You probably do know. I kind of know how to play, but not really. I was going to have Remus try to teach me, if he could, but he says that the table back at Dogear Wryde isn't useable anymore.

Malfoy said he was going to come kick me, but he never showed up.

Maybe you could come stay here. No one would think it was weird if I had a pet dog, you know. But you probably wouldn't want to stay a dog whenever we went out, so never mind. You could come visit, though.

Do you know if they ever figured out what made the walls fall in? Does anyone know? Had to be some wild kind of spell, didn't it? Do you think that's what he meant to do? Or maybe he meant to do something else but got distracted? I didn't think there were spells for that.

When are you coming home?

We were going to put up the hoops this summer, remember? We probably won't now. Even if you got back in time for the party, we'd probably be too tired on Sunday to do it. If Dumbledore even lets me stay that long. You know, we could get him really drunk and then he'd sleep most of the next day. I could even stay till evening, maybe.

I want to come home. I want you to come home, too. When are you coming back?

Obviously not. I'd have left a note, but since I couldn't find any parchment, I thought taking a quill to write on your face might be needless cruelty. I'm thoughtful that way. And I couldn't find a quill, anyway.

Hey, Sirius. It's my birthday today. Remus was just here to visit, at the park. He surprised me. He brought wine and we both got pretty drunk. We had rain earlier today, so it was kind of chilly, even. You probably would've liked it, at least for a night or so. Are you any closer to home yet?

We talked about you alot, for most of the night, really. I hope you don't think that we don't miss you. You said that you might be coming home soon, right? That's what you meant when you said that you're coming closer to home, isn't it? So are you going to be here soon? Remus doesn't really look all that good. I think it's just because he misses you.

So I was looking through star maps on the computer, because your name is the name of a star. I mean, I know you know that already. Everyone knows that. We studied it a couple of years ago in Astronomy, but I don't really remember what we learned about it. I thought that maybe I could look up and find it, but it's in Canis Major, and when I asked Remus where it was, he told me that we wouldn't be able to see it until autumn. He showed me where in the sky I'd see it first. It follows Orion, so when I see Orion, it won't be much longer before we can see your star, too. But by the time Canis Major comes up, you'll definitely be home already. You have to be home before classes start. You teach classes.

Anyway, he took out his watch and we watched the time tick down to midnight. We stayed out till morning. I think I might have slept for a bit, but we got to watch the sun come up. I can do a pretty good sobering charm even when I'm drunk. I've got a bit of a headache, but other than that I'm fine. Remus says that you're pretty good at them too. I was going to do one on Remus, too, but he said he wasn't quite ready yet. Petunia kind of glared when I came in, but she didn't say anything.

I'm getting kind of tired, so I'm going to go to bed now. I hope it's cooled down some where you are.

Hey, Sirius.

You're probably getting pretty tired of these comments, or you will when you get them anyway. Remus is kind of missing, too, now. Someone Apparated into the hall, I guess, and he hasn't been back to check his journal since. I thought that it might be you, because who else is going to Apparate there that early in the morning? I guess it could have been anyone, but I hope it was you.

Mrs Malfoy came to visit today. She said Draco came too, but he left without coming in. I didn't see him, anyway, and neither did Aunt Petunia or Dudley. But Mrs Malfoy stayed for a while. I don't know if you knew about her accident or not, but she seems to be doing good now. She made me biscuits, and they're really not bad. We were going to take cooking lessons this summer, remember? And you were going to teach us? I can't remember if you agreed to it or not, but you're obviously the best cook any of us know. We could still do that when you get back, if you want.

Ron owled me, and Hermione, too. I checked for an owl from you, but you're probably really busy, wherever you are. But still, it's been a good day so far. The best bit was Aunt Petunia's head exploding from trying to deal with someone who was a witch and obviously fabulously wealthy. Mrs Malfoy gave her some Galleons, and she didn't shut up about them until Uncle Vernon came home, and then she hid them in the planter in the sitting room.

I guess I don't really have anything to say. I just thought I'd say hi. I hope everything's going okay with you. I'll stop bugging you now, okay?
