Current mood:discontent

I am weary of this talk of Quidditch permeating every niche of this school. There is absolutely no educational value to idiots sailing around on broomsticks chucking balls at one another. That so many of our students and even the staff here at Hogwarts have devoted their time and energy to following this ridiculous sport only proves that wizard society as a whole has become little more than a herd of drooling mouth-breathers whose language only includes nothing more complicated than "Go Cannons."

As such I shall be taking refuge deep within my chambers this evening until the fervor has calmed to at least a dull roar.

At least I can find some joy in the detention I assigned to Mr Weasley yesterday, for incessent whinging about the use of spiders' blood in a simple Weavers' Solution. Mr Weasley, your detention will take place this Saturday in my office, where you will spend the afternoon bottling spiders' blood in order to replenish my stores.

I am through with all of you now.

I hope that I did not disturb you this evening, Severus, when I popped by the staffroom. For some reason my wireless wasn't working so I thought to use the one in there.

Were you there? I was extremely involved in marking essays and did not note your presence at all.

Ah, well that's good then. I was afraid that I might have startled you. It was a very good if extremely frustrating match, and my enthusiasm might have got away with me at some point.

How many Gryffindor failed today, I wonder?

As I said, I was not aware that you were even in the room and so it is not likely that you disturbed me in any way.

Seventeen. And one detention for the elder Creevey for a particularly dismal essay on the uses of spiderwort.

A productive day for you then!

Are you certain you didn't hear me? I was only about three feet from your table.

potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:06 pm UTC

No. I did not hear you.

lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:09 pm UTC

How extraordinary. I could have sworn I knocked over your ink bottle when Jenkins mistakenly directed a Bludger toward Knode's head.

potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:10 pm UTC

I did not notice, if you did.

And it was not Jenkins. It was O'Neill.

lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:11 pm UTC

Was it really? I must have been shouting too loudly to have heard the name properly.

I've always said that they never should have got O'Neill. He's blind as a bat and about as intelligent.

That cannot be denied, however you must acknowledge that he did manage to unseat Hannaford at one point, which would have benefit the Cannons greatly had Lucas not chosen that precise moment to drop the Quaffle upon the Falmouth Keeper's head.

lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:17 pm UTC

Fair enough, that still doesn't make Jenkins and O'Neill less inept. It merely makes them lucky.

Which is why Falmouth will always be superior to Chudley as they rely less on luck and more on sheer brute force, though I will admit that they have not shown in recent times the same bloodthirsty fervor as they did during the Broadmoor years.

I thought you didn't follow Quidditch, Severus.

(parent)
potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:19 pm UTC

Osmosis.

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:20 pm UTC

Of course.

(parent)
potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:20 pm UTC

Weren't you otherwise engaged this evening?

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:22 pm UTC

You mean Kieran? I cancelled. Not all that interested really.

(parent)
potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:22 pm UTC

Ah. A pity, then.

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:28 pm UTC

No, not really. Had I gone the conversation would have turned to Quidditch and I suspect someone would have gone home with a fork in his eye.

Fancy a chess match? If you're not busy, of course.

potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:29 pm UTC

It is best that you avoided potential bloodshed.

I am not busy, and therefore I suppose I will entertain you. My door is open.

lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:30 pm UTC

On the way.

(Go Cannons.)

potions_master @ 2003-09-27 11:32 pm UTC

Beware, Lupin. I possess forks.

(parent)
lupercus @ 2003-09-27 11:33 pm UTC

Good to know.

turpinol @ 2003-09-28 12:56 am UTC

I agree, Professor.
