Malfoy, you have an appointment with the headmaster and Professor Snape at 07.10. I assume that you will follow the latter to the headmaster's office.

Professor M. McGonagall

Do not waste your time trying to deal with Potter; you've far more important things to worry about.

I just think he's rude, Father. I've received the post from you and Mother, incidentally. Thank you for your letter. When should I be home?

We'll be expecting you for tea. That should give you plenty of time to make yourself presentable.

You might, indeed, think Potter rude; certainly he seems to find your company objectionable. However, your concern for his behaviour comes across as desperation. Cease. Anyone can read this journal, after all.

I do have the last match against Gryffindor on Saturday, so unfortunately I'll have to miss Mother's birthday. Perhaps you and Mother could come to the match, as it is the last match I'll have at Hogwarts. In any case, ought I to stay at the Manor or return to Hogwarts Friday evening?

I'd suggest staying at the Manor Friday night; you might need some rest and you can wish your mother a happy birthday at breakfast; then return in time to prepare for your Quidditch match.

I'm looking forward to seeing you Friday. Know that your mother and I are very proud of you. We trust your judgment.

I look forward to seeing you and Mother as well, though I of course regret missing Mother's birthday. I'm always glad to make you proud of me, as it is something I strive to do.

I have no doubt that you will succeed admirably. Life is a series of tests, and choices to make. I remember when I was in your position: on the cusp of my adulthood and primed to make choices that would influence my entire destiny. I made them, and I haven't looked back.

Above all, Draco, be sure that any decision you make is one that you'll never look back upon with regret. You deserve to be happy.

Thank you, Father. I think I ought to retire for the evening, as I've still not recovered entirely from my cold due to Millicent. I shall write to you before lessons in the morning, I expect.

Of course, Draco. You may write at any time; you know that. You seem unsettled and that's to be expected. I won't say I know how you feel, for I don't, but if you need anything at all, your mother and I are here for you.

It would please me immensely to see your last Hogwarts match on my birthday. You are my pride and joy, Draco, and watching you participate in your very last Quidditch match and lead Slytherin to victory against Gryffindor would make my special day that much more special. I myself have had little time to fly as of late; perhaps we could spend time doing so Friday evening, just the two of us? I should like to have private time with you; there is much I have to say and I do so enjoy our talks. I realise that Friday shall be a big day for you and it is likely more than a bit overwhelming. However, I want you to remember that I have always been proud of you and I trust that, no matter what happens, you know you are a Peltier as well as a Malfoy and we Peltiers always have a means to an end--no matter what the end may be.

Love,
Mother

Thank you, Mother. I do, of course, hate to tie up your birthday, but I imagine since I'll be winning it will be an enjoyable match.

Flying sounds like an excellent idea, actually. I look forward to talking with you as well.

Your pride and joy,
Draco
