Attn: staff.
Wait just one bloody minute. Why on the bloody green earth should Slytherin serve detention for Potter? How is that supposed to encourage Potter to do his sodding work? If anything, it'll just make him stop doing it and start getting into more trouble just so Slytherin can keep getting detentions! This is an outrage!
Of course, it made perfect sense to give detention to the other Houses. Potter is friends with them. They like him. Obviously, Slytherin House isn't that easily swayed by fame and a scar. Why would Potter stop being such a klutz now? What is the godforsaken point in this?!
I, as the Slytherin Prefect, hereby issue a petition to have this detention system revoked. That means sign this, nosebleeds.
I'm sure My Father would agree with me.

Mr. Malfoy, before you get too carried away by your plethora of signatories, allow me to offer a different perspective for your current situation.
While I sympathise fully with your plight, and recognise that the current system of motivating Mr. Potter which Professor Snape has implemented is, to say the least, a bit rash, there exists a certain cosmological order in the way your detentions work. After all, the month of October is, according to Harry's arithmantic profile, a perfect time for him to experience the renewal of his academic successes, while practicing peace towards his fellow classmates. As I am sure you know despite appearances to the contrary, it takes far more heart to be gracious to your enemies, Mr. Malfoy, than to your friends. I suspect that Professor Snape, in a surprising awareness of numerological dynamics, is using these last set of detentions as a front to prove to Mr. Potter his own worth, and convince him to let the better part of his intellect shine through.
Or perhaps he is in fact a sadistic bastard. Either way, chin up, young man. If I recall correctly, your arithmantra for this year is "Patience," is it not?

Right, then. Does this mean you won't be signing, Professor?

Really, Mr. Malfoy, when has this ever helped Potter? It's just funny, now. Suck it up.

Malfoy,
Whilst it is known that you have always been rather the sirocco of rage, I must say that the fault of this situation lies on no one but the Slytherins. Was it not you who laughed in the face of punishment when Professor Snape's rounds went through the other Houses? Was it not you who blamed your misfortunes in Potions on Harry Potter so that the other Houses would continue to be punished? Perhaps if you had not spent so much of your time setting Harry up to take the fall for your misdeeds, you would not find yourself in line to receive the proverbial shoe that was on the other foot prior to this but is now on your own.
Suffice to say, I shall certainly not be signing your petition, and I fail to see how this shall make any impact upon the professors of Hogwarts. I certainly did not see you petitioning to have this system revoked when Professor Snape was condemning the Gryffindors one by one. Likewise, you certainly cannot think that the other Houses shall rise to the occasion and try to support you out of getting a detention. Were I still Head Boy, I would, in fact, take this petition away from you. Unfortunately, I am rather too busy at the Ministry for that. Regardless, I do feel you should step back and take a look at your actions before you begin wondering why there is no one here to help you.

I'd sign, but the enchantment on my pen just broke. I wholly support you, though.
